LHeym500Texas Megachurch founder indicted for lewd acts w a child
https://apple.news/ALC-dRZLQQ2-eEMUun20TGwHowever, Texas is trying right now to make some who calls themselves trans a felony.
I honestly find both things to be near maddening with anger.
I have said it a dozen times. The social science tells us most child molesters identify as straight men.
I don’t find it unique or s coincide s state over mean with religious, political zealotry has a mega Chruch founder having sexual contact w a child. I bet he voted R. I bet the tax shelter that is the church gave a lot of political donations. Yet, it is trans people that need prosecuted for bring trans.
These megachurchs are not about Jesus.

Don't forget this toad was also Trump's "spiritual advisor".

LHeym500Yes, sir raise the black flag.
However, how about spending legislative time making his actions more punishable than vilifying a whole class of folks who by a class is not the danger? This action should be at least a Class B felony with mandatory term of service. I bet in Texas this specific charge is non violent.
How about breaking the tax shelter that allowed this man to gain wealth , influence, and access under the guise of religion?
No, what the Texas legislature cares about is a clear violation of gender discrimination under intermediate scrutiny while permitting the hunting ground for real predators.

bad bet - but the jurisdiction was in Oklahoma - Had it been tried in Texas, he would face:
(d) An offense under this section is a state jail felony if the victim was a child younger than 14 years of age at the time of the offense

there's a bit to unpack here
1: I agree, there should be no tax shelter for religion
1a: that would be a Federal issue / constitutional amendment level thing - but I support it
2: the "fruit of a poison tree" is a different thing
3: ask me again why i am agnostic/bordering on atheist ?

Why are you pulling Texas into this? The trial was in OK -- where the crimes were committed, per your article
quote:
The abuse began in December 1982 when Morris was visiting the Hominy, Oklahoma , home of the victim, the attorney general’s office alleged.
Not for nothing, but your entire post was off the assumption that this occurred in Texas and your disdain of Texas lead you down a end-end dirt road

TumbleweedAs one of our esteemed members recently pointed out, Jesus forgives everything. He’s a preacher so he’s in the clear, no worries.
I’d be surprised if he doesn’t make another few millions from the Go Fund Me his MAGAty flock will doubtlessly set up.

Ropes break and shooters miss, better to use both.

I'll bet that's exactly how Christian predators think. They can do anything--even the most detestable things--so long as they have faith in Jesus.

He does forgive, but I don't think the absolution includes consequences of sin.
I've told the kids ad nauseum that being sorry and being forgiven for breaking someone's leg or stabbing someone or shooting someone doesn't mean the leg or body is miraculously healed.
Bad words can scar for life. Bad deeds can cause a lifetime or a long time of pain. God hasn't removed that consequence.
Theres no doubt this perp may well be forgiven and spend eternity in Heaven, but the consequences for his actions here on earth he will answer for.
And you can't blame mega churches, Christianity, Texas or Trump. Sin and human failings is a global scourge. Atheists fail their fellow man as much as Baptists or Hindu.
Me personally? Id pass on a mega church. A stadium full of strangers isn't where I find a personal relationship with God or fellow believers. I believe it's be much more productive for us here to gather in Doc Lanes yard, on my lawn or in my living room or Roland's kitchen and commune as brothers or friends together. Church is community, neighborhood, not so much club-ish by friends. Fellow humans.
This perp needs to be held accountable and it unfortunate the accountability will be administered by a court rather than a father or family.

Jesus might forgive, but the judge sentences and genpop will deliver justice
