In the mean time work on serious policy issues like flood control, budget containment, insurance reform, healthcare, all just sits while they bloviate. As a life long Republican, I cannot begin to describe how disappointed I am in the current GOP. I never imagined that the GOP could be as worthless as the Dems but they have exceeded my expectations in every way now that they have decided to allow religious kooks and nuts control the party.

I'm a little bit surprised that we haven't heard some sort of hypocritical rationalizations from Dr. Easter about his favored candidate's violations of the Commandments.

Lane rides for the brand, and would find some way to rationalize voting for a serial killer if he was the Republican candidate.

After all, the Biblical David was a murderer, so God approves of Trump despite the fact that he's unrepentant for his sins.

The closest he comes to abiding by even one is the admonition to keep the Sabbath Day holy, and six days of the week he doesn't break that one.

Evangelicals, as is their wont, completely misunderstand the 1st Amendment's "Establishment" clause:

Your religion, whatever it is, may tell you what you can or must do, or not do, within the Law; it can never tell me what I must do or not do.

The Constitutional guarantee of free exercise does not mean you can exercise your religion on people outside your particular religion.

Spend enough time listening to politicians, and eventually, one of them will tell you the truth.

"I can't wait to be sued," Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry declared four days before signing a law last week mandating that all public school classrooms – from kindergarten to college – display a Protestant Christian version of the Ten Commandments.

Courting his party's Christian nationalists with controversy is an excellent way to boost a fella's national profile. Getting sued and maybe having that case go to the U.S. Supreme Court, where a few justices might be willing to toss overboard decades of precedent, is even better.

Landry was so giddy about those prospects that he didn't even notice when a young girl standing behind him during Wednesday's signing ceremony fainted and collapsed to the floor.

"If you want to respect the rule of law, you've got to start from the original law giver, which was Moses," Landry said as others rushed to the girl's aid and an analogy about priorities was born.
