Many Republicans surrendered their spines to Trump for tax cuts or permission to be their racist and/or misogynist selves, or because Russian Intelligence had juicy shit Trump could threaten them with, but Cruz is one of a small number who started out without a spine to surrender.

He wouldn't even take up for his own wife.

…or his father. How anyone can respect him with his grovelling to Trump is beyond belief.

He's in a real re-election fight here in Texas. Rep. Colin Allred is giving him a run for his money and, per some polls, has almost pulled even. Lots of commercials on TV and radio from both sides....same for trump and Harris...which is interesting and shows how things are evolving in Texas. I haven't seen any commercials relating to a presidential election here in many many cycles because the state hasn't been in play for the last 30 years. Things are changing.

I suspect, but certainly can't prove, that there's a very significant well of Republican women who will vote for Harris without ever telling a pollster or their husband.

I think you are correct and I certainly hope you are.

I noticed something this go-round. In the neighborhood I live in, in 2020, there were +/-20 houses within a half-mile radius of me that put Trump/Pence signs in their front yard. Today, there is one Trump/Vance sign. I think January 6th and Trump's desperate attempt to steal the election was a turning point for MAGATs that still possessed a brain.

Sadly, if Trump is able to win, then we surely do deserve him and the changes he will make in the laws and constitutionally; with the help of his Supreme Court cronies, that will keep MAGA in power for the foreseeable future. Donald Trump is Stage-4 Cancer, and democracy is the patient.

Interesting thread. I too have noticed a difference in signage. although I do see Trump signs up I don't think I have seen as many. Does this mean that they have changed their vote or are just not proud to vote for Trump. I have no idea. I am an independent voter and vote for the person and not the party. I will admit that I voted for Trump the last two times not because I liked him but I did not like the Democratic candidates. This time I will not vote for him because of what he did. that means I will vote for Harris again not because I like her but because I cannot vote for anyone who thinks he is above the law and tries to suspend the constitution. I think Trump has done more to divide this country than anyone in the last 100 years and the sooner he goes away for good the better.

The proportion of self-identified Republicans who say they plan to vote for Kamala Harris in November has nearly doubled over the past month according to a major new survey from The New York Times/Siena College.

It found nine percent of likely voters who describe themselves as Republican plan to back the Democratic candidate in November, up from five percent in the last New York Times/Siena College poll a month earlier. By contrast just three percent of Democratic identifying voters said they will vote for Donald Trump, while 96 percent said they support Harris.
