I see he vapor locked again the other day. How is he qualified to participate in running a country when he does a zombie imitation every time somebody talks to him?

Between him and Diane Feinstein, it looks like a contest to see who can hang on the longest!

Throw in Biden and a few more.

Yep. He needs to retire......as does feinstein, biden and fetterman.

None of them have the mental acuity to make decisions for our country.

Transient Ischemic Attack, a ‘mini stroke’. Often a warning sign of a more serious stroke to follow.

There really ought to be age limits for elected officials and public servants. If you haven’t done what you’ve set out to do by age 70, you’re not going to do it after. Go home and play with your grandchildren, for crying out loud.

Didn't he take a blow to the head in a fall a while back?

Yes, he suffered a concussion in a fall a few months ago. He and Feinstein both look like cadavers. According to the news tonight, we now have the oldest Senate in the last 100 years. Pathetic, as are voters that keep sending these dinosaurs back….

I think it's hard for voters who have been supporting the same candidate for 20 or 30 or 40 years to switch. McConnell has been delivering government dollars for Kentucky since 1985 and has done a damn fine job for his constituents. Dude was an operator. He can't give it up and neither can his supporters.

I'll leave medical opinions to you Dr. Dollar but based on what I saw today, Mitch is on a short fuse. God bless him. He did what he thought was right for a long time and he did it very well.

Feinstein would retire tomorrow if Republicans would allow her replacement on the Judiciary Committee.

Please explain. If a Democrat retires or leaves a committee, another Democrat will replace them as long as the Dems control the Senate. She’s not the only Dem in the Senate and they control committee assignments.

They need 60 votes to change the makeup of the committee, the GOP will not go along:

I thought all committees were a simple majority of the ruling party, with the chairman being the deciding vote. Sort of like the Senate itself. 50:50 split results in the President pro tem casting deciding vote. If a committee has a total of say 12 members the party in power will always have the most votes. How many members does the Judiciary Committee have and is not Feinstein not just another member? If she is gone, would not another Dem replace her? Confused

After reading the NPR article more closely I see the problem. She wants to put her committee appointment on hold and not resign- just replace herself temporarily with another Dem. Then when she recovers( ain’t happening) she can come back and pick up her position. Apparently that’s against Senate rules. Also ain’t happening.

Replacing a Committee Member requires a full Senate vote, and is subject to a filibuster so Democrats would have to be assured of 60 votes. She won't resign her seat if it means leaving Judiciary deadlocked at 10-10.

Remember, Republicans refused to allow a temporary replacement when she was out with shingles.

If she resigns her Senate seat Newsome appoints a replacement, probably whoever he wants to win the seat in 2024, but that leaves her Committee seats vacant, and those can only be filled if Republicans agree.

Which they won't. They would love to have the Judiciary Committee unable to advance any judicial nominations. Their strategy for years has been to try to force as many vacancies as possible on the Federal bench in case they get to fill them. The effect on the administration of Justice doesn't matter to them, only seating Federalist Society judges.

It's what Leonard Leo pays them for.

With all his faults, Mitch still has a far better grasp of what it takes to be a Stateman than the leader in house, McCarthy. He understands the importance of funding the government, much more than can be said for the Freedom Caucus.

It's really going to get sporty if he locks up and they can't get him back.

Republicans in the Ky Legislature just passed a Law, and over-rode the Governor's veto, that changed the appointment of a successor from Governor's choice to one of a list of three submitted by Republicans.

Figuring the Law is probably unconstitutional the Governor is likely to appoint a Senator and let the Republicans sue, which will all likely take at least until the next election settles it.

Our Senate makes you retire at 75, about the only plus for our system.
