TN has expelled 2 members previously from the State House. That was for major crimes.

The now expelled two members of the House were committing no crimes, what they did was interrupt the Chamber certainly a censurable action.

Protests do mot appear illegal. Certainly, they were not violent.

Folks are allowed to express positions you do not like.

Folks have a Federally Protected Right to Assemble.

Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it nothing can succeed.”

The GOP lead by the Faction is creating public sentiment that is pushing folks away from the GOP.

Like the midterms showed us. The people have rejected election lies by the right. Absolutism of religious views on abortion as a governing principle, rejection of this false Puritanism, rejection of gay hate.

Keep telling, saying hateful, and screaming about trans people being hired by private companies.

While ignoring the real problems that people want answers to and punishing people only for disagreeing with you.

There were 3 who protested.

The only two expelled were black.

Hmmmm.

This is clearly about race when the White participant is not removed.

Spot on!

Would there be any legal recourse for the two who were expelled?

The question would be was TN procedure on the expulsion violated?

If not, I believe the Fed Courts particularly this Supreme Court would say this is a state political issue and not a legal issue.

Now, if the procedure for expulsion was violated the Courts (Fed after state court remedies were exhausted) would intervene.

Or, if these two can show the expulsion was racially motivated. Yes, the Fed Courts will intercede upon their behalf if the State Courts were to not right the issue. Again, the two have to show racial motivation in the expulsion. The facts about who did not get removed becomes relevant then.

An interesting piece of business is the Gov does not fill the vacated seats. The County Executive for the district does. What happens when the County Executives send these two back to the Chamber? I believe that to be the immediate play.

Yet, no one got arrested unlike your boys who stopped the transition of power.

I have said it before. Protest is just fine. Violence is terrorism.

It means the count was stopped and Congress was escorted under armed guard from the mob getting them while chants of hang Mile Pence echoed through the Capitol.

It means police line was broken with violence.

It means the Commander In Chief with the authority to use the National Guard unilaterally to put down those trying to keep him in power for nothing to stop it.

Let's not forget that GOP legislator Scotty Campbell resigned only after being outed for sexual harassment, and that the Tennessee GOP had no plans to expel him. They were actively sweeping it under the rug.
