THIS is an example of why we need some someone to cut the crap out of the bureaucracy.

A born Texan has instilled in his system a mind-set of no retreat or no surrender. I wish everyone the world over had the dominating spirit that motivates Texans.– Billy Clayton, Speaker of the Texas House
No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

LHeym500So we have Dr. Easter wanting a new federal agency of unelected officials to tell us what Congress can spend money on?
Yet, according to him Chevron was bad law.
Congress needs to limit, restrict the department of the Executive branch’s discretionary budget. That would be more inline with the original intent of the Constitution.
Fool alert.
Musk does not represent me, my values, nor this nation’s best interest.
Oh, and I support spending this money as it was spent.
When it comes to Dr. Easter and his positions on race, I’ll take racism for 200 Terbeck.

I think DOGE can only make recommendations - sure hope there's a PILE of them before the budget is due --
and I have high expectations that we'll have the first approved budget since the year 2008

Exactly!
The American public is too stupid!
Just look at who they elect to rule them!

Actually, it is congress that lets the public down. No accountability. Few serving are worth their salt.

Very true. They all only run for self serving reasons.

lavacaGot in a bit of a tiff with my liberal daughter, never understood that, I taught her to think for herself, but never taught her to think wrong.
Anyway, I thought DODE was something we could agree on. Oh no!. What I heard is that this is just a way of cutting government employees' jobs and that is such a small part of the budget that it won't do any good.
I disagreed with the concept that laying off useless government workers was a bad thing, her only response was it wouldn't save that much. I said let's save what we can, and I don't think it's going to stop at a few employees, I think there are entire agencies we don't need that should be shut down.
She said that would collapse the economy and increase unemployment. My answer was we can't have a government-driven economy and if shutting down unnecessary government agencies has an adverse effect on the economy, it's necessary, kind of like cutting out a cancer.
As to the unemployment rate, the thousands of former government employees who'll need jobs will combat the ridiculous minimum wage statutes in states like Commiefornia where they are paying folks $20 an hour to flip burgers.
Trimming government is all good on multiple levels.

We can't any more all make a living governing each other than all flipping each others' hamburgers...

LHeym500I get ot.
Tompkins is saying we cannot build a service economy around everyone getting a paycheck from bring employed by government. The same we cannot build a health economy on just lie paying, unskilled labor like food service.
Anyone want to disagree go for it.
