I will have to say that I have practiced a lot in federal court and I've never seen a federal judge that holds as many hearings as Cannon. Litigants rarely get a hearing in federal court on any motion. It's all done by briefing and submission. A motion is filed, a response is filed, sometimes a reply to the response is filed and then the judge issues an order either granting or denying the motion. No hearing. Discovery motions get a hearing but typically in front of a magistrate, not the judge.

That said, it is within her discretion to do almost anything she wants. It's a lifetime appointment and there are few persons with more power than a United States District Court judge. And, they can only be removed through impeachment which almost never happens.

I can think of better things to be outraged about than Trumps Dirty shirts or broken boxes in Biden garage. Neither took the papers seriously, but really doesnt deserve more than shaking your head at their stupidity.

Penn state found some marked classified. Bidens lawyers then spent two months looking for other documents, before reporting their findings.
Hur said Biden willfully kept, and shared classified documents. He then said Biden co-operated, and was a dottering old man and not likely a jury would convict him in the end because of it.

I'm just hopeful that when this finally goes to trial after either Cannon is removed or Trump loses in November, we get to find out whose advice he was taking on the Presidential Records Act, because his understanding of it was exactly, completely opposite of both the text and the history.

He was convinced that since Nixon's family eventually got several million dollars as compensation for the Government taking his Presidential papers that he was in line for a huge payday when he eventually made a deal to return whatever he hadn't found a market for first. I don't for a minute believe that Trump ever read and tried to interpret a Statute in his life, so somebody, Stephen Miller or Steve Bannon or Michael Flynn or Barron, convinced him that the Law passed specifically to make clear that Presidential records are, and remain, the property of the Government, not the President personally, means the exact opposite.

I recall a comment from an underling when asked by trump if he could keep a copy of a certain document and she said "How can you say no to the President?" I assume she made note of it.
