Trump just wants to be able to declare that he ended the war, he could care less about the terms and whether it preserves Ukraine sovereignty. He needs something to get the conversation off of Epstein. Anyone that thinks Trump is headed to Alaska to lay down the law to Putin and play a tough hand . . . well they well deserve their status as a MAGAt.

Adam Schiff must have created your talking points… or did I see a B-2, escorted by F-35’s fly a low pass over Putin . I wonder why Trump arranged that. May you can ask Schiff.

Explain how asking Ukraine to concede is some sort of flex of American muscle....It is nothing but cowardice on Trump's part.

Reagan did not win the cold war by telling Gorbachev that he would do his bidding for him 2020

Dunno, but I bet putin was scared shitless. You think that trump would get us militarily involved when we're nothing more than a c*nt hair away from a serious war?

I don't know why this meeting Alaska is being seen as a final solution. Everyone agrees that Ukraine is sovereign, they'll have to approve any finality.

Final solution? Trump has been promising a solution even before the election. It hasn't happened. And Putin's terms haven't changed. No progress has been made due to Trump's involvement towards final solution. Quite the opposite.

And if everyone agrees Ukraine is sovereign then the invasion wouldn't have happened, and Trump wouldn't have given Putin's terms credibility, nor engaged in negotiations without Zelensky's presence.

The Danger is Clear

'The danger is clear': Ex-Trump 'operative' warns White House guest of planned 'trap'
Story by David McAfee
© provided by RawStory

Donald Trump is planning a "trap" for an upcoming White House guest, according to a former administration insider.

Former Trump associate Lev Parnas, who says he used to be "deep inside the Trump machine" and now reports from the outside, recently flagged a news story that he was sure would make Trump "flip." Parnas has described himself as a former "trusted operative" of the president.

Now, Parnas is saying Trump's carefully calculated moves with Putin in Alaska were merely a distraction.

"But that’s the illusion. That’s the game. While they chatter about body language and handshakes, the real story is buried beneath the surface — exactly where Putin wanted it," Parnas wrote in a piece for Substack. "And now, even before the dust settles in Alaska, I hear from my sources that Trump is summoning Zelensky to the White House on Monday. The media will sell it as progress, as hope. But I’m telling you, it’s a trap."

He continued to outline what he sees as Trump's "plan" for the leader of Ukraine.

"And now, with Zelensky summoned to Washington, the danger is clear. They will try to corner him into a deal he cannot accept — a land swap, a false 'peace' carved out of Ukraine’s sovereignty. And when he refuses, they will paint him as the obstacle, the problem, the reason peace failed."

He added:

"I’m risking everything to bring you this truth. My sources are risking everything too. Every day, Trump, Putin, and their enablers are tightening their grip, cracking down on leakers, truth-tellers, and independent voices like ours. They want silence. They want obedience. They want you in the dark while they divide nations like real estate and rewrite history as if the dead, the stolen, and the broken never mattered."

It is being reported that Starmer, von der Leyen, Metz, Macron, Rutte, Meloni and Stubb are predicted to participate in the meeting at the White House on Monday. If true, that would be a positive development. Always a good idea to have some adult supervision in the room with Trump.

I don’t know why the obvious is so invisible.
We’re looking at two megalomaniacs working in concert.

Putin wants to reestablish the Soviet Union, and enlarge it to include as much of Europe as possible. There’s absolutely no doubt that Brexit was engineered by Putin to remove a cornerstone of the EU and weaken it.

Trump is equally driven by his own Midas Complex to lust for possession of North America and as much more as he can grab - Greenland had him drooling a few weeks back, and Panama could offer a choke hold on global trade.

“Hell is empty, and all the devils are here..”
and at the moment, they’re gnawing at Ukraine.

Not surprising, but we'll see if it materializes.

It's being reported by NYT, BBC, NPR and others.

Hopefully Trump's trap is spoiled.

Do I correctly remember reading that Ukraine has the second-largest natural gas reserves in Europe? And if I do, why isn't that fact mentioned in polite company? And then there's the "bread-basket" moniker, a not-quite-stranglehold on food availability in some quarters. The Holodomor had much to do with this, and it occurred withing living memory.

Ukraine isn't a be-all and end-all economic powerhouse, but it holds a few cards that would fit well in others' hands.

Trump and Putin are like the proverbial two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner, bankers' family values. Ukraine's resources could be collateral for a lot of borrowed money, a strong draw for countries with financial inconveniences.

The chess game is being played on another board upstairs in a closet, while we watch checkers in the kitchen. I do not think Trump himself is so bright, but the guys telling him what to do might be, and smart enough not to make an issue of mental ability.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_gas_in_Ukraine

and do not forget as well the use of ukraine for transporting russian natural to their customers in western europe and of course once the war is over it will start again ...

let alone the rare earths that all the nations are trying to get their hands on ...

I expect that Putin's version of security guarantees for Ukraine is that Russia will take ownership and defend its investment...
