A lot has been said here recently about our duty to help the homeless, being the most powerful country and all....

Maybe care and compassion is the answer?

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

It is a lot like feeding bears.

The more you feed them the more they come.

Then when you stop they get mean and demand more.

I propose a 10 percent reduction for 10 years after 10 years no more.

There will still be a few who well wait un till the last second an then demand you keep feeding them.

The real problem is, even the cost of imported Chinese stuff is higher than the value of unskilled labor here, and the cost of housing and US-grown food stays the same. There is no work for them that will enable them to eat right under a roof. And some are constitutionally unsuitable for employment anyway. A few poor lifestyle choices will make it hard to get back up, once they're made.

Finally, some are just flattened by things like a big medical bill or plain bad luck. I'm told the proportions are about one-third each.

A good analogy. I learned long ago that if you feed stray cats (relatives, friends, etc.) Youwill become overrun with stray cats.
If you have the means, they'll have the needs.
