Trunk does not mean this in a colloquial manner. He believes he can declare war to subvert our legal restrictions upon the Power of a President.

The fake conservatives cheer at this lawless regime.

With regards to terrorism, your complaint is more rightly with congress who gave the president rather carte Blanche powers re terrorism.

I also understand that the president does have the authority to act in an emergency situation while consulting congress.

So while a president can initiate some actions, it’s not actually a war until congress says so, and while I am uncertain of how long he has until congress must authorize the act, it is in the war powers act if I recall correctly.

I do think Trump is blathering and trying to pump himself up with his statements. Hardly unusual for him.

A) Both Chambers voted to give power to Bush.

B) I have long said, we either declare war or we do nothing. I am all for repelling the Patriot Act. Point is Congress acted.

And

C) Past inappropriate behavior does not excuse current inappropriate.

Please try to focus on the current President, this term, and this blatant attempt to erode Checks and Balances.

I would gladly, have asked my Senators to sanction mass military involvement in the Middle East so a Declaration of War. Again, Congress did.

Something we can agree on.

Both chambers gave the power to the president, not to GW Bush. They never revoked it.

Yes, they acted. We are still living with the aftermath of that decision. I also agree that we should repeal the patriot act.

Of course not.

I am pointing out that the current president is using authority that was foolishly given by congress. You want to stop it, you need congress to repeal and enact a new law.

I would gladly, have asked my Senators to sanction mass military involvement in the Middle East so a Declaration of War. Again, Congress did.
