Great! Let's drive down some prices? Apparently oil is selling for more than $70 per barrel. At that price the Houthis are flying drones and rockets, Hamas is paragliding and I guess the West Bank is frisky. The fallacy above is that there is NO connection between the actions of OPEC and the executive branch of the USA…there is. Current OPEC members are Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, the Republic of the Congo, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. All of those countries are dictatorships that respect NOTHING but strength and the ability and WILLINGNESS to wield it. American oil companies have been made pariahs by the progressive left…including biden. Thus, they ars now just along for the ride…making hay while the sun shines…can’t blame them. Go back to incentivizing American oil to take care of Americans and put strong leadership in place that will put meaningful pressure on OPEC when needed and see where American’s energy prices go. At the time…OPEC’s strategy was to wreck the USA exploration and production companies by flooding the market with oil to drive prices below production price for domestic USA companies. Roland, There is a lot of differences in the 2 scenarios you throw out to compare here. First, 100% hell no…I did not support the government bailout of the auto industry. Let them live or die by their business tact. In regards to Trump and THIS oil situation…that is a slightly different story. This was a known plot of a foreign cartel (OPEC) to harm American businesses. Furthermore, that harm would have eventually come to the consumer dramatically increased energy prices that would surpass the small hike he was looking for.
