I plan to go camping somewhere with lots of trees during the emergence and enjoy the symphony.

yeah on the symphony.

one of my fondest memories as a kid was walking home from football practice and hearing them all sing and click in the trees that lined the main street through downtown.

Even I who live in the frozen north know about cicadas and the noise.

That they periodically come out is hardly great news.

That there are two major broods hatching at the same time is interesting, but hardly earth shattering.

And yes, the NPR article is better.
