Vance says trump doesn't have to comply with court orders
And, so it begins. trump and musk's efforts to establish an oligarchy via EO's they claim are not subject to judicial review, the Constitution or rule of law.

trump has always been a ridiculous buffoon in terms of legal positions, but if you would have told me even at the end of trump's term in 2020 that this is where we would be five years later, I would not have believed it. A Vice-President saying that trump is not required to comply with court orders that he disagrees with. Defies belief.

At some level I would actually welcome a fight over the ability of courts to review executive actions. Bad facts make bad law and I think the more extreme the position of the administration, the more likely it is that will force the hand of the SCOTUS to take a position against the administration. Even conservative judges appointed by Trump will struggle with taking ridiculous positions to support the administration.

Hey, come on. President Musk and his VP can’t possibly be wrong. They answer to no one, much less the constitution…

Why even keep Congress and the judiciary, we can just let Elon Musk make all decisions, he's already in charge of deciding his own conflicts of interest and accessed a huge amount of banking information from CFPB just as he's going to launch a digital payment platform on "Twitter", and seeking to shut it down when it would be the only governmental agency that could regulate such an entity.

If the Constitution is still working, the ability of the Courts to review executive actions is still in place. That's been the law of the land since Marbury v. Madison. trump aint a king.

But, I agree that a rebuke or a decision reminding trump what the law is on this issue from the SCOTUS in relation to executive power would be welcome. Will we ever get it? Who knows?

Such statements should be a wake up call to Congress.

They are indefensible.

Sadly, too many would surrender physical review to the skirt of totalitarianism.

And no, President Obama nor President Biden was this dangerous.

While the lower courts have shown judicial restraint. Yes, their opinions have been conservative in applying long standing precedent to be termed constraint. This S. Ct., majority may be all too willing to remove the court’s role in checks and balancimg the Executive Branch. I pray not. That will be the end of our Constitution and our democracy. Yes, for the 14ish reasons o have listed previously we are a democracy. All be it, we are not a pure democracy.

It should be a wake-up call, but it won't be. trump determines republican policy. Nobody else.

Vance is a lapdog who sometimes yaps out of order (I hope). If nothing else, his statement should disqualify him from the vote of every patriotic American in 2028.

So you can show us a few court orders the Biden Administration just ignored, right?

Show us Executive Orders invalidated by the courts that President Biden ignored. President Trump just got snaked for ignoring the court concerning his apparently unconstitutional executive order on funding freeze.

Who were the creditors who were paid off with tax money when the debtors could not make the vigorish?

What fraud, specifically, has been identified?

Spending passed by Congress that you don't agree with is not fraud, it's how legislation is done, this side gets some stuff, that side gets some stuff, it's shuffled around until enough people are willing to vote for it. It then becomes a Law, as are all Acts of Congress, which the Constitution you and your ilk claim to respect REQUIRES the President "see be faithfully executed". There are no Laws that a President gets to pick and choose or ignore at will, or we don't have a Constitutional Republic, we have dictatorship. Find somebody with a book and look up "Separation of Powers" and "Checks and Balances".

oh, let's take a real world swing at this--
every year, congress approves FEMA disaster funds - by your "logic" the executive is required to spend all that money, regardless of if there was a disaster or not --

oh, and they can't mis-spend it, say, to the tune of $ 59million in a WEEK to house illegals, as I am pretty certain there isn't a CR authorizing THAT action --

it's SIMPLE
congress allocates the funds
the executive spends the funds
the judicial is there to referee --

as in it's in the constitution --

unlike "national popular vote" or "democracy"

And the s. Ct., said no the first time.

The second time the cancellations came through existing federal student loan forgiveness programs, which are limited to specific categories of borrowers, such as public-sector workers, people defrauded by for-profit colleges, and borrowers who have paid for at least 20 years.

These programs are and were separate from the rejected forgiveness plan, which would have canceled about $430 billion of the $1.6 trillion of outstanding federal student loan debt all at one time.

So, no President Biden did not violate the Supreme Court ruling.

That's not necessarily fraud. Fraud is applying for business loans during COVID when you didn't even have a business and buying cars and property and jaunts all over the world with the money. Fraud is setting up dummy medical practices and billing Medicare for reimbursement for non services or overbilling for services provided.

Trump Defies the Courts What Comes Next?

Trump and "they" are trying to create a constitutional crisis, for real, maybe on several fronts.

Let's not get distracted from the OP premise.

This topic and issue, specific to Trump, is a make it or break it deal.

We know already that Trump thinks he's above the law, and he's emboldened with the SCOTUS ruling regarding immunity. But even without that he's always fought the law. He has no problem pushing the edges and crossing the line.

That whole fiasco about his BIG LIE and forcing his stay in the WH when Biden won was a constitutional crisis that found a resolution by means of then VP Pence. Trump created the crisis intentionally. We just lucked out of it.

VP Vance is not Pence.

This contest with the rule of law vs Trump is going to come to a head, and pop and drain like a boil on Trump's arsh or fester more.

This is fascism 102. Break the judicial branch. GOPers are his already.

I suggest to not take this lightly. Study on it. This is a turning point, among several. It's akin to crossing the Rubicon:

"Crossing the Rubicon" is an idiom that means to make a final decision or to pass a point of no return.

Explanation:

The phrase comes from the story of Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon River in 49 BC. Caesar crossed the river with his army, which started a civil war in Rome. Caesar's crossing of the Rubicon was illegal because Roman governors were not allowed to enter the borders of their home province without the senate's invitation.

'Autocratic breakthrough': Trump showdown with courts puts U.S. on the brink of abandoning democracy

As Donald Trump rushes beyond the bounds of his authority to dismantle the U.S. government, courts are quickly catching up and putting his actions on hold. But, Rachel Maddow points out, whether he heeds the authority of the courts or decides to openly defy court orders will show whether or not the U.S. has ceased to be a democracy.
