Right-wing leader warns of ‘second American Revolution’ that will remain ‘bloodless if the left allows it to be’

The president of the right-wing Heritage Foundation made a cryptic threat to the “radical left” while warning of a second “revolution” sweeping the country.

“We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be,” Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts told Real America’s Voice on Tuesday.

The conservative think tank Roberts helms is behind Project 2025, a right-wing roadmap for a potential second Trump administration that would grant the president unprecedented control over federal agencies and empower Trump loyalists. It’s stated aim is “to start undoing the damage the Left has wrought and build a better country for all Americans in 2025.”

Roberts’ comments come on the heels of Monday’s Supreme Court ruling that gives presidents broad immunity privileges, which could prove favorable to Donald Trump as he faces multiple criminal cases. Roberts praised the ruling: “We’re in the process of taking this country back.

“No one in the audience should be despairing ... We ought to be really encouraged by what happened yesterday,” Roberts continued. “And in spite of all of the injustice ... we are going to prevail.”

Pretty bold to announce your intent to overthrow the legally-constituted government, but with the Federalist Society Court ruling that nothing is illegal if a Republican does it I guess bold is the new black.

I'm rather dismayed that people I talk with don't know about project 2025, and they seem to not want to spend the time and thought to learn about the plan.

The attitude (for lack of a better word) seems to be present herein too. I've sometimes thought of the debates herein as a reflection of a broader scale.

It seems to me that there are basically two camps. One is appalled or would be if they were paying attention to what the Right is up to. And another who is all in favor of the "second American Revolution", project 2025, SCOTUS gutting the administrative state, empowering the executive branch in defiance of the Founder's principles.

The way Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts conveyed his message, his loaded choice of words should be alarming in itself. It most definitely shows an attitude - of not only self-righteousness but righteousness regarding what he calls a revolution, and he believes the inevitability of it. There are many implications therein to unpack, which really shouldn't take much imagination.

Remember: "When they tell you who they are, believe them the first time".

The president of The Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank, said the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling is encouraging and that the group, known for Project 2025, is already in the process of “taking the country back.”

“We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be,” Kevin Roberts said in an interview on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court granted former President Donald Trump limited immunity from prosecution for official acts in the ruling that split the justices 6-3 along ideological lines. Justice Sonia Sotomayor said the ruling dangerously expands the chief executive’s power and makes presidents “a king above the law.”

Roberts said Monday’s decision is vital to ensuring a president won’t have to “second guess, triple guess every decision they’re making.” He also alluded that it will help usher in Project 2025 if Trump wins reelection in November.

The 2025 Presidential Transition Project, as it is otherwise known, is a detailed 900-page “Mandate for Leadership” that lays out an administration-in-waiting for the next conservative president. It seeks to redefine the executive branch, including overhauling several government agencies and replacing civil servants with political appointees. The plan has critics up in arms and concerned about its “apocalyptic” and “authoritarian” nature.

“In spite of all this nonsense from the left, we are going to win. We’re in the process of taking this country back,” Roberts said Tuesday. “The reason that they are apoplectic right now, the reason that so many anchors on MSNBC, for example, are losing their minds daily is because our side is winning.”

Roberts’s appearance on “War Room” raised red flags for Democrats, who reacted with concern to his comments.

James Singer, a spokesperson for the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign, responded in a statement drawing attention to the Fourth of July.

“248 years ago tomorrow, America declared independence from a tyrannical king, and now Donald Trump and his allies want to make him one at our expense,” Singer said. “they are dreaming of a violent revolution to destroy the very idea of America.”

In a statement to USA TODAY Wednesday afternoon, Roberts alleged that it is organized groups on the left that “have the capacity to carry out violent riots.”

“Americans in 2024 are in the process of carrying out the Second American Revolution to take power back from the elites and despotic bureaucrats,” Roberts said. “These patriots are committed to peaceful revolution at the ballot box.”

Perennial political candidate and spiritual leader Marianne Williamson also responded on X, formerly Twitter, adding, “This is chilling. Their idea of a second American Revolution is to undo the first one.”

Donald Trump wants to shut down the US Department of Education, saying at recent rallies that it should be disbanded to “move everything back to the states where it belongs”.

The idea of dismantling the education department has become increasingly mainstream, though it’s nearly as old as the department itself, which was created by Congress as a cabinet-level agency in 1979. Trump made similar promises on the 2016 campaign trail to either cut or hobble the department.

Eliminating it would require Congress to act, which could be an impossible feat, though several of Trump and his allies’ policy goals on education could be accomplished through presidential actions.

Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation’s rightwing manifesto for a potential incoming Trump administration, lays out how dismantling the federal education department would work, leaving behind, if anything, a husk focused solely as a “statistics-gathering agency that disseminates information to the states”, writes Lindsey Burke, the author of the education chapter and leader of Heritage’s education policy center.

The department’s elimination is one of many goals contained in the extensive conservative playbook that will inform a second Trump term. Project 2025 calls for privatizing education and driving out any programs related to LGBTQ+ youth or diversity.

The major thing people support trump for is financial gain. They all want more money or to pay less for stuff like gasoline and food.

Not sure how many feel he will strongly protect their 2A rights, but I don't trust him much in that department. He will do what's best for djt and fuck the rest of us if that's what it comes down to.

That is often said, but I'm not so sure they actually mean it literally insofar as that's the extent of it. I think it may be their way of dismissal of the bigger picture and allow themselves to just not think about it.

I may be giving too much credit undeserved.

Upon real analysis, Trump is not necessarily going to produce a better economy than Biden. Too many variables and factors involved. Biden has done okay, but the spin doesn't allow for that, so it's muddy.

After all, financial stability or improvement or well-being, financial, health, environment, for the masses isn't the mission of republican politicians anyway. It's all about trickle-down when and consequentially from corp and shareholder wealth. IOW, crumbs.

Regarding your comment about DJT doing what's best for DJT - that's complicated.

He can't do it alone. Everything he does is transactional - tit for tat. Granted, he will throw the others under the bus, if expedient and he thinks it won't harm him. By harm him, I mean Machiavellianism, + or - power, sharing only if he thinks it will lead to more power for himself.

Also, Trump operates on the premise of zero-sum. There are only winners and losers in his worldview. Ask yourself - where does compromise fit in? We can be certain that within the message from the head of Heritage, speaking for all conservatives who subscribe to GOPerism, that his threat includes the zero-sum, no compromise view.

This whole thing, project 2025 and far beyond, is looking for a means, a lever, a tool and so far, they deem the path is THRU the existing Founder's system as it has somewhat evolved. But, the threat made by the head of Heritage should most certainly be deemed to mean if they can't win THRU the system, they will go around it. And, most importantly once they gain the power, project 2025 and other means will ensure they will never lose again.

Trump is the tool, part of a much larger hive, and he's not stupid. He knows it. He will play along, and play them to whatever extent he thinks he can. They still think they can control him and his ego, but will use him until they can't, or he wears out.

The obvious, but which may not be acknowledged is that no part of this republican movement is operating coincidentally or independently.

All the think tanks, Heritage, Federalist, etc., hundred or so, the conservative justices, GOPer congress, are coordinated.

There is no way the recent decisions from SCOTUS are not informed and coordinated with the MASTER PLAN.

It goes back a long time, even before Reagan but gained traction there. It was especially noted when McConnell denied Garland's nomination and the whole scheme for Trump to appoint three. Now we see the culmination.

The "rest of the story" is yet to unfold.

What this guy, the head of Heritage Foundation, is saying is a threat, and he's speaking for all GOPers. They have done their best to lean the next election in their favor through many state legislatures, poll staff appointments, etc. They have sowed doubt about poll integrity continuously as a setup for what will happen if Trump loses, in which case it's going to get ugly, until it's over.

The best thing is that Trump loses, by a landslide, and the majority control of both houses of congress goes to democrats.
