You have a funny Idea of winning Saeed.

Kaliningrad is now shut off energy wise from Russia itself, and an independence movement is growing as they work out they have more to gain from Europe than Russia.
Transnistria in a similar situation and needing power from Europe.
More NATO countries on their boarders. And those Nations now bringing up their military expenditure and re Arming.
Turkey is replacing Russia as the nation of importance in the eastern region.

Russias Markets for oil and gas severely diminished. and not likely to come back for generations, if at all.

Ruble is not worth wiping your butt on.

Kursk region under Ukrainian control. hell it seems like they went from second most powerful army in the world, to second most powerful in Russia.

Russian manpower so depleted they have to bring in North Korean labourers to do utility work to keep Russia functioning.

SO yeah, Russia is winning big time.

But none of that actually explains what's wrong with Paines premise overall that the rules based order is a good system.

Most of the Ukrain cities are in darkness!

Russia still occupies what they have taken a long time ago.

The West want to bankrupt Russia.

Doing all sorts of totally unacceptable ways like taking individual people's properties under the guise of supporting Putin!

What happens if we applied the same rule every time America invades other countries??

The West is well and truly FUCKED!

By themselves.

Look at New Zealand, UK, France, Germany, Australia and America!

Like everyone one of them is run by imbeciles!

The stupid, illegal, sanctions are not just for yachts.

Lots of personal Russians properties have been taken from them.

Utterly illegal, senseless and immoral!

But, what does one expect from an adventurer run by the CIA!?

The killed Kennedy, the started the Vietnam war and they never stopped.

China stuck it up their rear end in Vietnam.

Russia is doing it in the Ukraine!

And don’t get the wrong idea.

I am certainly not happy about it.

Seems fine if you happen to be fighting over a bit of regional power with your brothers though. How goes the fight in Sudan? Who is winning, the UAE or the Saudi's? We know that the Sudanese are loosing.

I see your side is getting its ass kicked in Sudan, time to call your Russian brothers for more help fighting against your Saudi brothers. Whoops, those Ruskies are spread a bit thin at the moment. If you had a military of your own that was larger than a small village, maybe you would be able to fight your own battles. Not possible though, too hard getting the youth back from the clubs in Londonstan. jumping

I gather the Emerati population of the UAE is 1.44 million. Of that population, if 1/3rd are men that can hold a rifle, (say age 16-50,) that's an army of more than 400k.

I'm guessing with my estimations, but I also excluded and female participants.

Saeed, I don't doubt that the US did some stupid stuff that caused issues in Ukraine and, for that matter, Sudan.

However, I really doubt that the CIA was able to invent a whole conflict.

Ukraine had issues with Russia looking on them as an, at best, "semiautonomous" region where they were expected to toe the Russian line, but not get paid for it. At worst, they were a subservient area that was expected to sacrifice for Russia proper's good. The CIA was just able to assist the folks who didn't think that was a good idea to be more capable of affecting events.

Did we do this out of purely benevolent reasons? No. We saw it as a way to make someone else less likely to be a problem for us. No different than even your own nation trying to influence US politics so we will stay out of your way.

One problem with the US is that we do tend to devalue everything to money. When it became more expensive than it was worth, we folded like a cheap suit out of Afghanistan. However, if we still felt it worth while, we would still be there, and as they found out, we are much better at killing people than they are.

It may not be "fair" or necessarily moral, but that's the way the world is. If you want to keep your bigger neighbor out of your country, you need to make it too expensive for him to be there.

For the US, we don't get involved in every injustice in the world, but we do tend to get involved at times and it just can't be predicted what gets us to do it.

We didn't get involved in the Iran/Iraq war, but for some reason we did in the Iraq/Kuwait one. Saddam couldn't get the hint that we could remove him without much effort (or maybe he knew something that if he didn't act like he did he would get removed by an internal coup, I don't know) and kept poking the bear... and while it took quite a while, his attempts to get allies to discourage us (Russia, France, etc.) didn't deter us when our political system decided he was a past due problem.

Of course, our politicians didn't think about "what next" until after the fact and it was a mess.

It's really quite simple and obvious. The Russian stooge who was running the country ( which makes Saeeds claim about Zelensky Ironic, Tried to keep his nation away from closer ties with Europe. Which was what the people wanted and when he reneged on his promise of closer ties, they protested. He handled it poorly, as most Russian stooges do, and inflamed the situation leading too his own demise. The CIA seemed interested, and no doubt offered some quiet advice, but that's about it.
The whole thing has been a cock up on Putins part from start to finish, and he will go down as one of the worlds biggest losers.

When the Soviet Union fell apart and the various parts decided to go their separate ways Ukraine found itself with lots of Russian nukes on its soil that it had no direct control over. Russia wanted them back and signed up to the Budapest memorandum to get them.

This said that Russia committed to respecting the independence, sovereignty and existing boarders of Ukraine and that it would refrain from threats and economic coercion against the political independence of Ukraine.

Fast forward a few years and Russia is arming, training and supplying forces in the east of Ukraine fighting the elected govt. Fast forward another few years to 2014 and Russia marched in to the Crimea.

Another few years and Russia tried to help itself to the whole country.

It’s no one’s fault except Russia.
