Affirmation? okay

Barry was never the messiah. That's made up BS from the right because you have no other way of dealing with it or understanding it.

It's a projection, and it's sick, and fundamentally the problem.

If there are people who think Trump is a messiah and religiously follow him, they are kooks.

If this PhD thinks through his vast experience (doubtful, given he's in DC with the number of conservative types there and "cognitive psychology researcher" implies no clinical activity...) that what folks say to him via comments and emails - much less discussion forums- that he has a clue what people believe and why, he's lost in his own bias.

The concept of predestination is an old one, religiously. If god is both omniscient and omnipotent, one could say he did whatever happens. Ask the same people if Hitler or Obama was an act of God, and they will have to admit that he was. A common lament in the concentration camps of the Nazis was "why would god do this?"

If you think Trump creates the things that scare these folks, you have a screw loose. Does he play up that he's the only one who can fix it? Sure. But then, so does Biden... the government was screwed up by Trump? You need me to fix it!

Now, if someone truly believes that Trump is a perfect tool for god to fix the country, they have some real issues that need addressing.

Compare the press Trump got to what Biden is getting. Trump doesn't hold press conferences and lets only hand picked "journalists" to ask him questions? The press was publicly howling about it (rightly). Biden is doing the same thing, and while some in the press are not happy, because he's their guy the criticism is very blunted- you see the complaints only rarely, instead of it being continual. If Biden or Harris make a misstatement its viewed as a misstatement... what happened when Trump walked something back?

Biden may not be quite as overtly narcissistic as Trump was, but he's certainly no where near as good as Obama, either Bush, or Clinton from recent times.

To some extent, things have polarized to the point where either side feels the need to totally ignore the other's desires and both sides are buying in to getting vengeance on their opponents.

Wrong. Blacks voted for Obama without a scintilla of reason other than his blackness. He was a junior senator. He had no record of note much less accomplishments to lean on. He was voted for merely based upon his skin color. If Obama said it then it must be so. That is messianic stuff.

So, Trump was elected because he is orange?

Or was it because of his experience on reality TV?

Or was it because he said what you wanted to hear?

You want the discussion to follow your diversion. Okay, I'll play along--briefly.

Sure, some blacks voted for Obama based on his skin color. Some whites voted for McCain and Romney because of their skin color. Your point is...? That some people are racially biased? News flash!

"He was voted for merely based upon his skin color." Nice touch. The passive construction can obscure so much. I don't know about most folks, but I didn't consider Obama's skin color important. I voted for him because he promised refreshing change from eight years of Republican war mongering.

Your conclusion that Obama was a messiah to people doesn't follow. Maybe you need to step away from affirmation bias and check your logic, counsellor.

Yeah, the only things we’re seriously behind on are school shootings, mass murders and cops killing civilians. Oh, and wars. We’re way behind on invasions. We haven’t felt the need to invade anyone since 1812, and we hope you’ll accept our apology for that.

Otherwise, we’re a quite a ways ahead on life expectancy, health care, education and cost of living. Thank you for noticing. And again, we’re sorry about that 1812 thing. We told Billy Muktuk not to burn the White House down, but you know how those Eskimos get when they drink.

It was the truth all along.

The claim that Obama was a divisive POTUS is BS.

The divisiveness was intrinsic all along. He just stirred the hate that was already there, simply because of skin color. Trump showed us the Truth, and we all should be afraid.

If want to know what is BS…that^^^is BS.

0bama had nary policy goal that I could agree with. Not one! If you have one in which you adore…share it! I disliked him as POTUS because I despised ALL of his policy and he opened the door of National as never seen before.

As the graph reveals…0bama was the FIRST to not try to keep spending somewhat in line with revenue.

On top of that he turned racial tension in inner cities back to 1968 status. He took every opportunity to get out over his skis and prematurely come to the wrong decision on every racially tense occurrence that came along. 0bama is as much a racist as any one of us here. He had an opportunity because he was a black man and he failed.

I like Obamacare. "Adore" is too strong a word because the legislation was flawed from the beginning. I'd hoped to see the program expanded, but instead the Republicans have gutted it.

I largely agreed with Obama's environmental policies.

As for your graph, Bush drove the car of the economy into the ditch with his double wars and bad policies (like tax cuts mainly for those of us who didn't need them). Then he handed the keys to Obama. The Great Recession hit in 2007 (Bush's last year), and Obama was left to clean up the mess his first year in office. The bill for the wars and tax cuts came due about the same time. Increased spending for government stimulus was called for by most economists. In fact, Obama did clean up the mess and the economy recovered, sooner than it might have otherwise.

Obama acted like an adult in international affairs. He didn't start any wars. He didn't suck up to our enemies.

I could find other examples.

As for racial issues, I didn't agree with Obama's words much of the time. But I recognize his perspective as a black man is very different from mine (or yours).
