Because he inspired others and made them feel like they had a voice, that they were not alone. And he did it at the very institutions which have fomented so much hatred toward conservatives.

I don’t want to “stand in solidarity” with the other side of the aisle. I want to defeat you. I want to defeat the godless ideology that kills babies in the womb, sterilizes confused children, turns our cities into cesspools of degeneracy and lawlessness…and that murdered Charlie Kirk.

Social media is aflame right now with leftist celebration of Charlie’s death.

I wonder if any among them understand what has just happened. If there is a Yamamoto somewhere in their midst warning, that all they have done is awoken a sleeping giant.

I doubt it. I think they gave up such introspection and self-awareness long ago.

I don’t know exactly what will happen next. I just know that it won’t be the same as what has happened in the past.

There will be thoughts and prayers…Charlie would have wanted prayers. Not for himself but for those left behind and for the country that he loved.

But then there will be a reckoning.

My Christian faith requires me to love my enemies and pray for those who curse me. It does not require me to stand idly by in the midst of savagery and barbarism...quite the opposite.

So every time I feel tired, every time I feel discouraged or overwhelmed, I am going to watch the video of a good man being murdered in Utah…I will force myself to watch it…and then I will return to the work of destroying the evil ideology responsible for that and so much more.

I've been reading the latest news about this to gain perspective.

I didn't find anything from "normal" media buying into the Right's jump to conclusions and justifications for their hate.

All the sources I visited condemned the murder.

Do you know, as of this morning, they don't know who did it nor the motive. Yet the Right "knows" the Left did it and the motive.

And BTW, I support the post saying "Long Live Free Speech".

It doesn't matter whether I agree with a Rightist provoker.

This murder is sickening and sick.

From what I've read, Kirk provoked and was good at it. That's not necessarily bad. It could be good, but not so good if it is a form of affirmation of hate.

Given the reaction right now it looks like the Right lost a source of affirmation, perhaps the only source that had intellectual qualities.

Holy shit what a thread. Kirk is hardly cold on a slab before it starts, and no one has been arrested to tell us why it was done. Granted, a political dispute is pretty likely (No Shit Sherlock), but there is no admissible evidence to warrant this outpouring of vitriol among fellow recreational shooters. We might remember who shot Malcom X, and why.

Universities are sacred places, as much as churches, schools, hospitals, and nuclear power plants. This is a place where we hash things out and speak ideas that can't be aired around a card table. This shooting is utterly out of place, and unacceptable to civilized society regardless of motive. I do not support the death penalty but empathize with those who do, in this case.

And they all went silent on him when it turned out he wasn't a radical leftist. Never saw his name in print, trump never mentions him at all.
