Our govt did it last year, and principles are now saying it's been one of the most effective quick acting things to happen in education in a long time. Socially kids are going back to playing sports and games and reading.

I would say, it is a great idea but someone will challenge it in court and that will be the end of it
Unfortunately the cat is out of the bag and some school if we banned the phones would probably go on burning and looting protest and it would not surprise me

I bet it stands up. Student first amendment rights don't extend to disrupting classrooms.

I dont know how old a K-12 kid would be but the school local to me doesn't allow the use of any form of smart phone at the school for the lower years.

Kindergarten through 12th grade. In other words, up until college if they're going. My kid is senior in college and he has had several professors who make the students put their phones in a basket by the classroom door as they enter.

I've heard about sealed bags, baskets as you say, confiscation if seen by school staff,....

The blank zombie stare we all see when people sit and stare at the screen should rattle us all to the core.

It's 9pm, a half hour from my 8 year old unusual bedtime and she's not had a second of screen time yet.

Great move. If the courts overturn it, make the school buildings into Faraday cages.

It really is odd and frightening. I had to get my driver's license renewed the other day and was down at the county tax office....hundreds of people in a huge room waiting to pay taxes, renew their license, get a marriage license, etc....every single one of them with their nose buried in a phone. Every single one.
