I suppose that anything which is not prohibited by law is, by default, legal.

That being said, ‘legal’ and ‘right’ are not synonymous. It appears that a loophole exists, and will continue to exist until someone who values fairness and honesty closes it.

Politicians, who are universally and intrinsically unfair and dishonest, are all likely to use the loophole to their respective advantages.

p.s. If anybody anywhere comes across an honest politician, by all means skin it and save it. The Smithsonian has been looking for one for decades.

Doesn't SCOTUS get to grant cert on whatever it feels like that is brought before it? I thought they had granted certification, and the question was will they declare it moot because of the NC Supreme court overruling itself?

Essentially, yes assuming a Petition is filed. Subject to majority vote.

The opinion of the North Carolina Court, and the opinion that nothing prohibited is permitted is false.

Because there are a handful of S. Ct. precedents that stand fit the proposition the Fed Courts can prevent Partisan Gerrymandering. Unless this S. Ct. wants to overthrown those too.

Well, so far the judicial/justice branch seems to be holding as the Founders intended. And that's despite the Trump appointments and the Federalist Society.
