I looked up the word. All definitions referenced the Bible. So I don't know if I can agree with you or not. IMO, when someone uses the words "deep state" and "censor conservative speech" they don't know what they are talking about in a reality perspective. Instead it's alt-right conspiracy shit. Instead of expecting us to watch a long video, maybe you could give a short summary and explain what "political 'disinformation' censorship" is? If you're saying the government lies to us, that doesn't come as news to anyone paying attention since the Viet Nam days. Roland - It's really a complex and well funded operation. This is obscure yet, pervasive. The outward censorship, banning and post removal on FB and the old Twitter are merely child's play. I'll see if there are any Joe Rogan clips that highlight some of this stuff. There are entire censorship departments at prominent universities. ASU, has a very well funded department that uses algorithms and key words, in multiple languages, searching for undesirable social media content. The depths of this is actually frightening. The guy being interviewed, doing the talking, seems to know more stuff than is humanly possible. It would be practically impossible to fact check him on all of it. So getting to the premise as I hear it - he's saying that the "censorship" was really some attempt using government to deal with dis/misinformation. I didn't listen to it all but I didn't see where he disputed that characterization as dis/misinformation. He's just alarmed that it so happens that almost all of it is Rightist, and there are efforts to contain or quell it. So, for the sake of thought, suppose he's right and the social media should be wide open, no limits on it, the wild west so to speak. How's that gonna work? Who is going to say and enforce the no AI zone, no algorithms, no screening? Pass a law? Self regulate? Or is it again the government's job? This is a real concern for several reasons. The narrative in the video seems to be that the "censorship" or attempt to control dis/misinformation is being used as a tool by the wrong people - the liberal deep state. I dunno? I don't believe in "the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know." I believe that this country belongs to you and I, not the "deep state." As long as the political machine keeps Americans at each others throats, they will continue to have free reign. Your side has the deep state power now, but you fear (and I get it) that it will turn into Trumps deep state. We as Americans need to figure out how to not let it ever occur again, either side. Our differences are minor. We are both American first. This country is ours. This video really woke me up. The part about John McCain and ASU was shocking. Well, I think we made a connection somehow. Perhaps it's because I got off my high horse and tried to figure constructive things you were saying, somewhat suspending my usual skepticism. (how's that for a nice way of saying it?)  "Figure out how to not let it ever occur again" ??? Think about it. Saeed is right. I know that's a quote from Reagan - sorta. The quote went over well and is remembered well because it gets to the heart of Rightists' ideology and beliefs, "small" govt and all the rest, never trust the govt, etc. Trump took those inherent beliefs and used them at a much greater level, but I've said that already. So, how are we gonna get the govt to do the job with our permission and approval - Trustworthy? I'm thinking this up as I go. The Right doesn't and probably never will trust a liberal governance. They will fight it any way they can including lies and electing a fascist. The flip side is true too. The left will never trust Trump or Trumpism. But thus far the left has tried to stay consistent with the founding principles, rule of law and institutions, etc. In part the left's distrust is because Trump has made it clear that he can't be and shouldn't be trusted. That thought may extend to the notion that Trump supporters likewise can't be trusted. The Right's distrust has a large component, perhaps dominating, made up of theories, conspiracy and extrapolations from lies and dis/misinformation. I have begun to call it Belief in Fiction. I also think it is a permanent fixture in society, culture and politics. Government is also a permanent fixture one way or another. Whatever the deep state is, it's permanent too, the population may change from civil servants to loyalist expendable servants. There's also always gonna be the big influencers, the ultra-wealthy mostly, and people like Bannon and Flynn, forming orgs like the guy talked about in the video. These are the people hiring the lobbyists. But Musk, for example, is doing his own lobbying right at the top tier. So, I don't know how WE "Figure out how to not let it ever occur again". It's bigger and apparently more powerful than "WE". I'll tell how I attempt to not let "it" sway my belief. I don't participate in social media of the sort I think the video covers re censorship. I don't do facebook, twitter, X, and certainly not Truth Social. Yes, I know my news feed, YouTube, etc. has algorithms. I mess with it by watching Fox News segments sometimes. As far as I know, this forum for example doesn't use algorithms. I think I can ID a far right BS source quickly, and avoid it. I actively practice avoiding the trap of Belief in Fiction. Whether I'm successful or not may be debatable, but one has to have goals and start somewhere. It seems however to be more easily identified in others than oneself.The government can't be a guardian on behalf of WE against Belief in Fiction, but it can be used to stoke it. If WE are to have any true say-so in governance, WE have to figure out how to deal with the Belief in Fiction and its vulnerability. The government is no substitute for introspection and critical thinking skills. Neither is Heritage Foundation. Also, for the sake of simplicity, let's say that the division in the country is made up by those who cherish their Belief in Fiction on one side, and the other side can recognize it and to the best they can shun it and call it out. The side that tried to shun it, through what the person in the video called censorship, lost the fight despite the efforts. Trump won primarily by stoking Belief in Fiction. Great post, Thanks. I think the first step is term limits. Politicians spend their entire terms, trying to get enough money in donations to get re-elected. Perhaps three terms for Senators and Six for the House? The fastest, most expedient manner to get campaign monies is through lobbyists. There has got to be a way to separate that. It's just to easy for them to get where they are owned by the very special interests that cause this stuff. back to the video content. The censorship is almost all of the right. The reason for it, as he explains is; the goal here, Russian NG, is obviously controlled by Russia. Russia TRUE disinformation, is closer to what a rather extreme right wing post might look like. That is the reason, the 51 intelligence officials said the laptop was Russian disinformation, because it contained much of the same type stuff that true Russian disinformation would have. Unfortunately for Hunter/Joe, it wasn't disinformation. As to Ukraine and the Biden's, It also filled in many gaps as to the what's and whys. The US Government actually IS trying to build Ukraine NG into the European preferred supplier. So Joe Biden was likely acting on official, yet covert, US policy. So if anything, the video made me look at the Biden's in a different way, maybe not as corrupt as I originally though. That's the benefit of watching, reading and listening to everything, I have an open mind. It seems to me, the you might have one as well. So, as I've been saying, are we really that far apart? Internet message boards, particularly the political sub-forums, are full of trap-doors of hyper-partisanism. I have been guilty of it. That's why I invited you over to www.riverdavesplace.com It is a sub-forum that is pretty much polar in political position than this one. Interesting aside to that. I stay away from that place. Its a boating/motorsports site. As I think I've said in here, I have a disabled son. That forum has a propensity to mock the disabled and throw around terms like "fucking retard" with no thought given. I've fought the battles and have changed some minds but it remains. Every time I read that, it's like a knife being twisted in my guts. This sub-forum, even though I believe I am in the minority (politically), the members here don't use such language. You want to be able to spread lies, dis/misinformation and propaganda unhampered. It's not about "freedom". It's about twisting freedom. Do you really think that Belief in Fiction is freedom? How could fomenting Belief in Fiction be promoting freedom? I get it that censorship can't thwart those determined to promote and those determined to believe in fiction, and who is to decide? It's a problem and always has been and probably always will be. It's a yuge problem when the believers in fiction dominate the society, culture and politics because they also dominate those of us who don't want that running the nation. That is consistent with the founding principles. It's practically a fact that the Founders didn't want Belief in Fiction interfering with governance. They recognized what it is/was and wanted to minimize its affect/effect. That's the reason they made the constitution secular, for example. A representative democracy or republic depends on citizenry who can sort out reality from fiction, at least in theory. When that breaks down, the republic is in jeopardy of something replacing it and the Founder's principles. I picked two sentences to quote. To answer your question - let's hope not since that's the best route to solutions. I agree with your statement, but I remind you that it seems these days that's a liberal thing. I don't view or participate in any other forum. If this one turns sour I'll just vanish. I experimented with other forums for a while, years ago, and found out quickly they were not a place for me to participate. I hope this one is far more representative of reality. The others I tested were just nasty for the sake of rage, hate, spite - no good. I don't want to think that represents the USA. So, I quoted part of your post, again, to focus on particular parts. You may be correct about what you said about the goal. But it was also to thwart the rise in Rightist populist movements, like those happening in other countries, which Trump joined. One key aspect is/was that the so-deemed censorship was not a campaign consisting of lies or propaganda to counter same. Also, the 51, the letter, didn't say that Hunter's laptop WAS Russian mis/disinformation. They/it said that it was consistent with Russian dis/misinformation. As far as I remember from reading, at the time of the letter from the 51, no one knew for sure at the time. But the Right picked up on it, twisted it and produced mis/disinformation and went so far as to call the signers and authors traitors and liars. Even you bought it. It's so easy. Also, the New York Post (not NYT) published an article full of mis/disinformation about the letter and the 51 and the laptop, and the Right fixated on it. Other "news" sources hesitated and didn't publish definitive articles on it for lack of authentication. That's important. Practically all the dis/misinformation was amplified by Rightists on social media. Another thing to notice with the quoted part of your post is connecting some other dots re the Bidens. You fill some gaps, but at least you don't state those gap fillers as facts.
