Giuliani . . . a good lesson for others Login/Join

While it is certainly tragic to see someone make such an incredible fall from grace (albeit entirely of their own doing), it has been a valuable lesson to others lurking in dark corners feeling they can lie with impunity. As we go into this election cycle, it is impossible to imagine that the experiences of folks like Giuliani, Eastman, Ellis, Chesebro and Powell are lost on the prospective liars in wait. A good example of why prosecutions and pursuit of such individuals is worthwhile . . . it serves as a warning and a reminder to others that might be tempted to engage in similar behavior.

Joe Biden's biggest single mistake, IMO, was trying to right the wrong done to Merrick Garland by appointing him Attorney General. Sally Yates would have been a far better choice and would likely, if the evidence supported it, brought the upper levels of insurrection participants, to include Members of Congress, to Justice.

Instead it has been left largely up the various Bars to dole out such punishments as they are able, with includes only the practicing attorneys.

As far as I know he has never admitted he did anything wrong, from a legal or moral perspective. He still thinks he's a victim, and so do many more.

The fact is he's a victim of himself, of his own making. I'm sure his suffering is real.

The problem is that he represents a bigger picture where all MAGA considers themselves victims, and they suffer. But the difference is they make us all suffer, not on their behalf, but collaterally.

One party installed their candidate sans vote. One party controls the main stream media. One party has comprehensively litigated and or jailed their opponents. There’s certainly a lesson here for us all.

Roland, I can sense the cracks. What of the above is untrue?

Immna guess you are referring to the GOP.

Tell me the truth, do you believe the Republicans and Trump and Giuliani bear any responsibility for the circumstances they find themselves in?

It sounds bad doesn’t it. It is. So bad in fact, you weren’t sure if this was a setup referring to China, Russia, Mussolini or Hitler. Here’s what I believe. There are unspoken rules in Washington, Trump and his admin refused to play by the rules and here we are.

Not playing by the ones that are written down, in the Law, is why he has 34 felony convictions and almost twice that many pending indictments.

Yes. The lesson is you’re full of shit.

1: show me a state that is mounting a legal challenge to Kamala’s candidacy.
2: Are the trump propaganda channels mainstream or really just propaganda?
3: Democrats didn’t take part in an insurrection
4: I could be wrong here…show me a democrat challenge to exclude votes.

I’m sure there’ll be a memorial set up someday for the victims of the Trump Gravity Well (or perhaps Depravity Well, as the case may be.)

Those who get too close to him are inevitably drawn in and destroyed, like moths to a flame. There are already too many to list, yet more keep rushing in. It’s quite remarkable.

Yep, laws that took lawyers years as to how to manufacture a possible guilty verdict, laws ignored when (D)s break them, yes laws in which it took a special jurisdiction and most liberal of judges to possibly get a conviction too. Yessir, you are quite correct Roland. thumbdown

F**k me Runnin' as they sometimes say in astonishment in the South.

You are making an assumption there TW.

That assumption is that Trump(ism) doesn't win, sooner or later.

Do you remember the saying: History is written by the winners, not the wieners.

The Depravity bunch might become fallen heroes, honored victims. Shit, we already see it. The co-conspirators in congress - promoted. The convicts of 1/6/21 deemed political prisoners, slated for pardons. SCOTUS granting the CHOSEN ONE immunity for crimes against humanity.

You left out the most important part . . . if you do not want to subject yourself to the application of a seldom used law, in a jurisdiction that is predominantly Democratic with more liberal leaning judges . . . don't violate the law in that jurisdiction in the first place. To violate the law and then whine about the other factors is, well, whiney.

Honestly, and tragically, that seems to be inevitable at some point in every society throughout history. I don’t know if it’s due to affluence or complacency, or some other element, but eventually people seem to take their eye off the ball and submit to self destructive ideas.

Russia, after the Romanovs. Rome, after the Caesars. Germany, after Kaiser Wilhelm. It seems to be a natural evolution of societies once they reach a certain tipping point of advancement. Some recover, some don’t.

If not Trump, then perhaps the next guy..a Vance, perhaps. But I think the tipping point is within a decade or two. Purges, violence, and then crushing oppression, stagnation and stasis for a long, long time.

But, hey - God works in mysterious ways, right?

That's correct, IMO. He's the chameleon who will morph into the dragon when the circumstances are right. He is even capable of making the circumstances to move Trump aside before his term is up. As I recall, if that happens, the VP becoming POTUS that way by whatever, the 25th, death, stroke, of Trump, Vance would be eligible to run for two more terms. That monster could be POTUS for 10 or more years under the current rules. But we all know rules are mere hurdles to GOPers.

I think we are at the precipice now. It's just a question of are we able to pull back.

If Trump wins, if not right away, he will do 1000 things to stir the resistance and when they react, he WILL sic the military on them. That's the crushing oppression. The purges will happen sooner.

And Fox News and Newsmax and X and Truth Social will soar like neon eagles above the carnage.

If Trump wins ..... wow

He not only wins the WH, he wins the immunity both future and present.

The thing I'll miss the most is his pending prosecutions and sentencing.

I just loathe the thought and actuality that he gets away with what he's done already.

But the actuality of his future crimes could so easily be avoided by his losing the election.

Many probably don't agree with me, but I think one of the most healing things that could happen for the country is for Trump and cohorts in crime to run the full gauntlet of the rule of law, fed, state, criminal and civil, and suffer the consequences of their actions against the nation.

People need to look really carefully into Rudi Guiliani's track record.

He was cozy with the Russian mob way back. He toppled the Italian Mafia to give Putin and the Russians the control of money laundering

Trump has been a long standing associate of Guiliani. Felix Sater and his association with Russian mob & Trump are well documented.
