I wouldn't know if this article is accurate or not, nor do I really care. War is uncivilized.

But I just had a random thought; it seems like Ukraine can do no wrong in this conflict, opposing Vlad earns them the blanket pardon and some wish unlimited support.

Israel however is increasingly under the microscope and is the recipient of global condemnation regardless the fact that Israel like Ukraine is prosecuting a counter attack.

It's been said here on the pf several times that neither side is lilly white in reference to the Gaza war. And in Ukraine?

I get it, Vlad is a historic, multi decade enemy of the USA and the West. Cuban Missile Crisis, Berlin Wall, Russian bombers in Venezuela a couple years ago. Nuke subs sneaking around and Ukraine standing up to them. America says, "Hip, Hip Hooray!" I think our boys escorted a couple Russian bombers away from my coast a couple weeks ago.

So as I said elsewhere, Two Gulf Wars, Iran Hostage Crisis, 9/11, USS Stark, frisky Houthis lately, Pakistan was hiding Osama, the Saudis chopped up that journalist in duffle bag sized pieces, Daniel Pearl, the Shoe Bomber, the Pan Am flight that blew up over Scotland, (do I need to go on,) the French newspaper cartoons of Mohammed and even here in the US of A, there are large pro Hamas protests, and members here are worried sick over those poor Palestinians in Gaza.

And who said "revenge"? This isn't revenge any more than Ukraine is seeking revenge. This is a counter attack, (in both cases or places,) to achieve survival. It's been popular around here to talk about Ukrainian sovereignty but they've had independence for less than half the time Israel has been sovereign and independent.

Seriously, it it just plain old Biblical anti Semitism? I'm not calling anyone here a Jew Hater, but the big demonstrations protests and University opposition to Israel can't be anything but.

What a weird place to be 20 years after 9/11. Today Americans defend and sympathize with Islamic Terrorism, Rashida Tlab and Ilan Omar being a couple pom pom waving cheerleaders.

If only Ukraine was Muslim right? They could hold public executions in stadiums full of thousands of "fans" for men convicted of maybe, not sure! murder. And the USA would smile and wave, smile and wave. Confused Confused Confused

I am pro-Ukraine/anti Putin to the bone. Putin represents a threat to half of Europe if he's not stopped cold in Ukraine, we are gutting his military on the cheap and getting invaluable real-world head-to-head comparison of our weapons systems against his and some innovative employment strategies to boot.

I am pro-Israel/anti-Netanyahu/anti-Hamas, and find Netanyahu much more aligned with Hamas than us. He's determined to block any chance of the Palestinian People governing themselves, as is Hamas, and in fact acted as a go-between in Qatar's financing of Hamas. The Israeli People and the Palestinian People could likely live in peace if they could rid themselves of the extremists who have seized power.

Ive no doubt your expressed loyalties are true, but Israel isn't stupid and they elect and re elected Netan- however youspellhisname.

The Palestinians in Gaza ain't that dumb either and the PLO and Hamas have been elected and supported by Gaza for decades.

So who's kidding who? Gaza is or isn't Hamas/ Hamas is or isn't Gaza or,.... Israel is or isn't Netan,..../ Netan,.... is or isn't Israel?

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. My enemy runs airplanes into skyscrapers, wears suicide vests, cuts civilians heads off , burns babies alive. My enemies use schools and hospitals for camouflage for their terrorism. I don't think Vlad considers my enemy his enemy. I think Israel considers my enemy their enemy.

It is that simple. Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin were allied against the Axis.
I don't think any of the three above were particularly weepy about the 350k to 500k Germans firebombed to death by our air force.

I do think Roosevelt for sure, and probably Churchill were both troubled by the wholesale death inflicted on the German people (and on the French/other nations when we were attacking occupied territories).

They obviously used rationalization to justify it. I do think Churchill had a strong streak of vengeance/retribution in his justification as well.

I do think it’s possible to do horrific acts for an overall good. It’s just very dangerous grounds.

In my mind, I don’t think the Palestinian civilians deserve death, but acknowledge that many will be killed to get rid of Hamas, who has shown no willingness to compromise or prioritize anything other than killing.

I don’t think that Gaza, with the history over my lifetime of continual terrorism is capable of responsible self government for decades.

If Israel is willing to pay the price of a long term occupation, I’m ok with that. I will say that the international community or the UN has already proven a failure there.

It’s not our (the US) issue. Exactly how Israel deals with it reflects on them.

If someone is determined to exterminate you totally, the rules of "civilized' warfare don't apply. Kill em All, let God sort em out has to be your motto.
