If It Walks Like a Russian Asset, and Talks Like a Russian Asset, and Quacks Like a R
quote:
The United States has told its allies that it does not plan to participate in military exercises in Europe, according to reports.

The move, the latest in Donald Trump’s pivot away from the bloc, would see America pull out of exercises beyond those already scheduled for this year.

The withdrawal concerns exercises that are on the “drawing board”, according to Swedish newspaper Expressen.

It means that Nato countries will be forced to plan exercises without the participation of the US military, the largest in the alliance.

I can’t confront the above. Yahoo.com is reporting it.

This is worse to me as it is in direct violation of NATO as approved by the Senate and ratified. You know making it the law of the land under our Constitution.

As part of the potential policy shift, the U.S. might not defend a fellow NATO member that is attacked if the country doesn’t meet the defense spending threshold, the officials said. If Trump does make that change, it would mark a significant shift from a core tenet of the alliance known as Article 5, which says that an attack on any NATO country is an attack on all of them.

Missouri v. Holland.372: Noting that treaties “are declared the supreme law of the land,” Justice Holmes for the Court said: “If the treaty is valid there can be no dispute about the validity of the statute under Article I, § 8, as a necessary and proper means to execute the powers of the Government.”376

Treaties approved by the Senate have the same force as the Constitution.

Neither.

I did some research but the answers varied. I could do more and maybe argue some. Trump's reasons at the time seem vague, but what else is new?

Biden?

So, you found ONE tidbit of evidence that MAY mean something, re your point. It's gonna take a lot more to show that Trump is not Putin's asser, simply because there is so much that suggests he is.

Regardless of how poorly some number of Canadians feel about America, I will never turn my back on a neighboring country whom I see as a Brother.

Mexico on the other hand, I hope we cross the border to eliminate the Cartel threat. Mexico allowed 10's of millions of illegal immigrants to cross through their country, heading our way. They allow Fentanyl, which kills literally hundreds of thousands, into our country, virtually unimpeded. I believe we will find Mexico government and LEO to be closely controlled by the Cartels. As Pablo Escobar said "Silver or Lead."

That's not true in several aspects. I saw from the search that Trump did something and Biden did something else, if not the opposite. But "shut it down" or "opened it back up" may not be the way to describe it.

I don't remember the timeline when the pipeline was sabotaged either.

It's not relevant anyway.

Is Trump a Russian asset? That is still the question for which the answer seems obvious.

Not just despicable, but inexplicable. If you start from the premise that Russia is and has been a greater enemy to the US and the West than Ukraine, you simply cannot rationalize Trump's actions. If you accept the stated premise, then every action Trump takes should be aimed at increasing Ukraine's leverage in negotiating for a peaceful end to the war and minimizing Russia's leverage in such negotiations. So when you see exactly the opposite happening, you have to believe that (1) Trump does not accept the premise that Russia and Putin represent a greater threat to the US and the West than Ukraine, (2) Trump is clueless when it comes to trying to negotiate an international deal, or (3) there is something Trump is trying to hide by taking Russia's side in the dispute.

This is something I have to admit. Pre election I understood why people rejected the dems, and even though I didn't trust Trump, I knew why he got the votes he did.

Now when I see how appalling he is being, And I never ever thought he'd be this bad, I have to say the dems would have been better.
But I am forever hopeful, and I, right now, hope the republicans realise how destructive too the US he's being, and at some point use the tools available to remove him with democratic help.

Oh,let me try!

American banks would no longer touch Trump, but “We get all the money we need out of Russia!”
But when we can’t pay it back with its extortionate interest, how, oh how might we?

U.S. banks see him as unacceptable risk, but the Russians see him as a good investment? Yeah, right - just not in the way you think.

I want to reply, but I hesitate because I don't want to defeat the good (intent) in your post.

What's the difference in "hopeful" and optimistic, for example?

I can't even imagine how bad it will get before GOPers turn on Trump.

I'm looking for a video to link that says what I want to say, clean.

My bet is that you really didn't understand or know why. You may know something superficially, but the depth of it is both simple and complicated, IMO. The simple is a segment of the people are vulnerable to the machinations of a populist. It's the same bunch that voted in Reagan but got more virulent ideological over time. Many sources fomented hate and loathing especially of Dems. Trump exploited the opportunity.

I don't know if the Dems lost their way or not, but their trajectory was and still is far better than the radical Right.

Here's a video that partially explains:

I still don't see the attraction or use for Vlad. No economy, no real threat or danger, not even a leading producer of vodka.
What's to like?

Don’t kid yourself - Vladimir Putin’s personal wealth would suck Elon Musks into its intake manifold. Musk owns some shit, but Putin owns a country bigger than the U.S. c/w all it’s resources.

The Russian people are neither here nor there, and Trump is SO damn envious.

It would add veracity if you could demonstrate that. No, I haven't made a study of Vlad, but I occasionally pick my head up off the desk from napping to pay attention for a moment or two and I haven't seen much from Vlad other than ineptitude.

Interesting take when you juxtapose these.

You'd think if Trump was Putin stooge, just the opposite would have occurred.

you always try to find good in your trump president lol you will see the light eventually ...

And you do nothing but try to make ALL Americans look like douches. (Except the ones whom hate Trump.

Do my links support the "Trump is a Russian asset", or just the opposite? I don't expect an answer.

I think Trumps take on tariffs is way overboard, FWIW.

only tariffs, not the border cancel of 1908 nor the river negociation of 2018 it is a whole. your links did not say anything that contradict trump ... so sorry but you do not like what your president is doing to us so let do it clrealy instead of not being so clear ...

In 2022 DHS estimates were that the TOTAL number of undocumented immigrants, from all sources, was 11.2 million. They allow Fentanyl, which kills literally hundreds of thousands, into our country, virtually unimpeded.
Annual fentanyl deaths in 2016, before Trump took office, were 9,580. In 2020, his last year in office, it was 56,516.
I believe we will find Mexico government and LEO to be closely controlled by the Cartels. As Pablo Escobar said "Silver or Lead."

Now when I see how appalling he is being, And I never ever thought he'd be this bad, I have to say the dems would have been better.

But I am forever hopeful, and I, right now, hope the republicans realise how destructive too the US he's being, and at some point use the tools available to remove him with democratic help.

Here's a video that partially explains:

https://youtube.com/shorts/IX1...?si=9tolV79URP9k2O1K

Yeah it's not simple, and the conversation is way off topic. But myself and father were talking about bit about it recently.

The Dems were incredibly stupid and what we were talking on was that for example the US has been incredibly fortunate that some of trumps selected Judges too the Supreme Court have turned out top value the institution above personal politics.
But Ruth Bader Ginsberg should have resigned in a timely manor and not left that too chance.
Same with Biden and that whole god forsaken fiasco.

It's not good enough to rely on trump being terrible to get back in power, and not have learnt and changed. The dems have to step back from the precipice and meet the electorate at a more agreeable position if they really care about the nation as well.

And be more fucking intelligent.

So when you see exactly the opposite happening, you have to believe that (1) Trump does not accept the premise that Russia and Putin represent a greater threat to the US and the West than Ukraine, (2) Trump is clueless when it comes to trying to negotiate an international deal, or (3) there is something Trump is trying to hide by taking Russia's side in the dispute.

. . . so what is your explanation Steve?

Oh,let me try!

American banks would no longer touch Trump, but “We get all the money we need out of Russia!”
But when we can’t pay it back with its extortionate interest, how, oh how might we?

U.S. banks see him as unacceptable risk, but the Russians see him as a good investment? Yeah, right - just not in the way you think.

Don't know if I'd push it that far, but it's worth re-reading Marine Major General Smedley Darlington Butler's explanation of how we entered World War One.

So okay, Vlad is loaded, let's assume the richest man on earth.

So what's the appeal to Trump? Is Vlad gonna provide for Don in retirement? Are they running off to a secluded tropical island together?

What is it that we believe Trump finds attractive and beneficial about Vlad or Russia?

I'm not seeing it
