A born Texan has instilled in his system a mind-set of no retreat or no surrender. I wish everyone the world over had the dominating spirit that motivates Texans.– Billy Clayton, Speaker of the Texas House

No state commands such fierce pride and loyalty. Lesser mortals are pitied for their misfortune in not being born in Texas.— Queen Elizabeth II on her visit to Texas in May, 1991.

I have a third question.

If a fascist doesn't know or say or denies he's a fascist, is he still a fascist?

Rightists ask a similar question about transgender people, and decide what they are based on evidence rather than the self-ID of the person.

So, it's logical to apply the same principle to fascists.

Real conservatives aren't radicalized. Thus "radicalized conservative" is an oxymoron. Yet there are many radicalized republicans.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." - Sinclair Lewis

Per my far-right friend: "reality sucks"

D.J. Trump aka Trumpism's Founding Farter, aka Farter Martyr. Qualifications: flatulence - mental, oral and anal.

That is the point ME. Trump does not fit the definition of a fascist. The correlation of Trump and fascism exists only in the minds of the illogical just exactly as transgenderism.

That's amusing - sorta. Wink

You consistently prove you can twist anything to fit.

I never really thought about it, seriously, but I always figured there is no such thing as an 80% queer. Same with a fascist. I don't know how a fascist can be 80%.

That was my point.

So, in my objective opinion, Trump more than 80% fits the definition of fascist.

I'm pretty sure you can objectively identify a queer. So why do you have trouble identifying a fascist?

Jeff5 gave a good definition identifying the characteristics and the correlation matches well.

I would like to read your definitions and why Trump doesn't fit.

You can deny the match with Jeff5's definition all day long, but I can judge for myself that the glove fits.

Me neither. Smiler

And perhaps the difference is that its existence troubles me but you embrace it.

Dilemma = choosing between two negatives. Which is worse, the lady or the tiger? Never seen a Democrat candidate who wasn't a poorer choice.

People speak of cultism. It looks to me that this mantra of “fascism” could be conceived as cultish behavior.

People who routinely spew cult and fascism are simpletons who have not mastered the skill of critical thinking. They use these words as comfort terms to make themselves feel better about not being able to comprehend political dynamics and movements driven by them.

It’s kind of like jailing people whom you disagree with. I disagree with and even dislike many political figures on the left. But you will never catch me trying to silence them or calling to jail them.

. . . let me help you a bit. A simpleton is someone that votes for candidates based solely on whether there is a (D) or an (R) behind their name regardless of the person (and their values, character, beliefs, etc.) to whom the label is attached. That's a simpleton.

Hardly.

Some people are capable delving deeper inside a political party’s platform, dissecting their agenda, and deciding the philosophy is bad for the country as a whole regardless of the salesperson for the philosophy while also realizing said party votes in unison as a block.

Those same people then utilize the entire election process as it was designed not skipping the first half as most of the simpletons do. The Primary Process is the time these people delve into the character of their preferred candidates.

The real simpletons are the ones who cut their noses off to spite their faces voting against their best interests simply because they don’t like the personality of a candidate.

But alas, simpletons will just be simpletons…hard to fix simple minds. Big Grin

. . . simpletons like to dress up the fact that they are simpletons by rambling on, rationalizing, finger pointing, patting themselves on the back . . . but the fact that they are simpletons is inescapable to anyone paying attention (Trump would be another good example). Anyone that votes solely on the basis of an acronym . . . yep, that's a simpleton. Wear it, you own it.

Only a simpleton would simplify party affiliation to the basis of an “acronym.” Not even sure where you got an “acronym.” But leave it to a simpleton to be simple-minded. Wink
