FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (KWTX) - The Texas A&M Forest service says the Crabapple Fire near Fredericksburg has grown to more than 9,500 acres and remains about 40 percent contained.
Firefighters on March 15 asked residents to leave their homes as they battled the massive grass fire that erupted near Fredericksburg at about 1 p.m. that day
Gillespie County Judge Daniel Jones issued a declaration of disaster, which allows officials to close roads and evacuate residents.
The fire started in the 8700 block of Lower Crabapple Road, which is north of downtown Fredericksburg.
