I think electing judges is bad policy. Accepting money and endorsements from various interested parties, and being sponsored by one or the other party, affects the dignity, public perception, and duty of impartiality of the judiciary.

I like the Alaska system of appointment of judges. First there is a survey of active members of the Bar for each candidate, allowing for written comments. Next, the responses are reviewed and summarized by the Alaska Judicial Council. Finally, the governor reviews the responses and makes the appointment. I saw only a couple lawyers I thought unqualified get appointed, and none were politically-affiliated.

Judges shouldn't be Republican or Demcrat.

Exactly, the judiciary should not be political. It makes a mockery of the who system. They should be there to interpret the law, now put their own political reflection onto it.

We have a Supreme Court, the political leanings of its members is not even an issue, its irrelevant to the decisions made.

I agree with you.

I take one exception being the appointment of judges.

ALJs in KY are appointed by the Governor.

I have seen that process from the inside. It is not pure, better at suppressing political influence than voting.

A small win in the war between good and evil - a war that’s not over by any means.

I loathe organized religions, but I swear, this is almost becoming Biblical. Unless Trumps mesmerized minions come to their senses soon, this could become a historical train wreck.

The only thing worse than electing judges is having them appointed by a governor with a political agenda.

My suggestion vote for judges based on their rulings being upheld by Appellate Court review.

Or counsel running for judgeships should have have appellate court experience, and practiced the areas of law that court address.

Remove all outside money and no political party affiliation nor endorsement.
