I see there’s been another balloon shot down over Alaska. If they keep sending them there’ll be some fighter pilots vying for a coveted “balloon patch”. There are probably guy’s already placing bets.

I saw it elsewhere that the sidewinder weapon used on the first one has a $400K pricetag to the Government.

The sidewinder has a heat seeker head. I’m surprised that at 60,000’ and no jet engine that it had enough heat signature to get a missle lock.
