Spoken like an indoctrinated insurance defense lawyer. How do you suppose poor and even middle class people can afford a dispute in the legal system, if not for 33-40 percent contingency representation? Can you suggest a better, fairer system for people to obtain compensation for injuries caused by someone else's negligence? You'd probably like nothing better than to bulldoze pro se litigants. Most plaintiff's lawyers I knew were very picky about the cases they took. Unless you've signed up for a pro bono case, no one likes to do a lot of work for nothing. Forty percent of nothing is nothing. By the way, have you ever personally represented a pro bono client? I assume there is a pro bono system through your bar association, so how often did you donate your time to help? | |||
