dogcatTrump wants to own Gaza... no kidding
Just out, Trump wants to the US to own and government/rebuild Gaza.
That should be interesting....
As if we don't have enough ghettos to deal with....
It is further interesting that no Arab country will take Palestinians and none have stepped up to rebuild that ghetto...
What a world we live in...
You would think that Saudi or UAE would chip in a bit...

Scott KingOf all the M.E. real estate to put an American/ Infidel footprint on , Gaza might be it.
Gaza isn't Holy Land like Mecca, and is populated by the least liked Muslims on the planet. Somalis get more respect. The Houthis get Valentine's Day cards before the Palestinians.
I would have objected now and forever to a permanent base in Iraq or Afghanistan, but Mediterranean beachfront does have appeal.

RolandtheHeadlessWe should rebuild our own decaying infrastructure first, before we start another foreign adventure like Iraq.

Actually, The Donald is suggesting exile. Full banishment. Send em to Mars.
Some of the beach and surf pictures of old Lebanon are idilic. It's possible a few dozen miles south could be equally so.

How much debt to take on, US lives, and permanent US presence to maintain any kind of security are you willing to take on.
Such an Act would end any regional cooperation we have. Drive Saudi Arabia to more of an alliance w Russia. The militancy and insurance would be so end as we create generations of young Arbs w cause to hate us. Just saying

Russia?!?!?!?!
An alliance with Russia?!?!?!?!
Are you and I thinking about the same Russia?
Vlads Russia? Vlads Russia that sends in DPRK soldiers as cannon fodder,.....that Russia?
Dude, Vlad can have Saudi Arabia. The Prince can fly Russian jet fighters, drive Russian tanks and shoot AK-47's. Mebbe the prince can resurrect Russians single aircraft carrier.
You were absolutely tuned tighter than a piano wire to leave a permanent military presence in the most zealous and devout Islamic territory in the Caliphate, (Afghanistan,) And you reject the Red Headed Step Child, / Gaza.
Saeed and the rest of the Caliphate care nothing for Palestine, the Palestinians and Gaza which is why the Caliphate never offers anything more than lip service. Truthfully, I doubt Trump is any more serious about annexing Gaza than he is about annexing Canada and as I've said before. I find his duplicity revolting.
But Gaza is one big fuck up like Haiti and it's past time for an adult to take over and supervise the classroom.

LHeym500Yes, Saudi Arabia has already engaged in energy deal w Russia that caused us great anxiety.
Russia’s annexation of Crimea in the spring of 2014, followed by the conflict in Donbas, led to its expulsion from the G8 and ignited a prolonged confrontation with Western nations. As a result, Moscow found itself increasingly isolated and compelled to seek new alliances.
Meanwhile, the United States experienced a surge in oil production due to the “shale gale,” which significantly boosted U.S. oil output, adding 3 million barrels per day (equivalent to 9 percent of OPEC’s production at the time) in the three years leading up to July 2014. This increase contributed directly to a dramatic shift in the global oil market dynamics. The market responded to this surge in supply with a sharp decline in oil prices, from the average of $108.93 per barrel of Brent in the first half of 2014 to $55.27 per barrel by the year’s end. Unlike in 1998, 2001, or 2008, this drop was not caused by a demand shock due to an economic crisis but rather by a major technological breakthrough. Therefore, the price could not be expected to recover alongside economic improvement. Additionally, it became evident that OPEC, with its diminishing market share, no longer had the capacity to single-handedly stabilize the market.
In January 2015, Salman bin Abdulaziz became the new king of Saud Arabia, after the death of his father King Abdullah. This was also the start of the meteoric rise of Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The young prince was not as pro-American as the traditional Saudi establishment and was looking for diplomatic breakthroughs that would differentiate him in a race to become the successor of the throne. In his view, establishing a working relationship with Russia might look like a strong win. Russia was positioning itself as a power broker in Yemen, without getting too close to any of the factions. In March 2015, just a month after Mohammed bin Salman was appointed the defense minister, Saudi Arabia started a military operation against the Houthis. Having an understanding with Russia on Yemen was important for the developing relationship and in June 2015 the prince visited the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where he met Russian President Vladimir Putin and then energy minister Alexander Novak.

The only real solution is to give the Palestinians a State, or a right of return and equal standing as citizens in Israel. The displaced have not given up after 75 years, this war has only hardened them, they won't be giving up their homeland anytime soon. That is a very safe bet.
05 February 2025, 18:17
dogcatThe Palestinians are not a state or a country. They are a collection of rejects from every Arab country thrown onto a spit of land and told to govern themselves. Which they cannot do. They had the chance and choice but picked Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran to guide them and support them. It is a waste. Much like Lebanon.
They never had a "homeland". They are Arabs and belong in any Arab country, but none will have them. They are squatters on Israel's land.
Trump's idea is the only valid option that anyone has put forward. No Arab country will support it yet the people involved are "theirs". Go figure.

There is plenty of infrastructure projects here at home that need attention. Including things like affordable housing, child care options, getting people off welfare, actually doing something about our roads, urban decay, etc. List is huge.

nuteSo let me get this straight, Trump wants to forcibly relocate 2 million people so the US can move in to what they view as their homeland.
The same population a proportion of which are well trained terrorist lunatics who view that patch of wasteland as their homeland.
And how many takers has he had for the 2 million who live there now?
And he wants Greenland and Panama. Sounds to me like he wants an empire for Trump. With other people doing the fighting and dying if things get rough.

crbutlerI gathered that Trump wants the US to take over security and rebuild Gaza. Is he actually trying to make another Puerto Rico? Or is it a Marshall plan brought forward?
I didn’t see anything about removing the people who are there.
I get the concerns about money, but if we redirect the funding we send to Israel and get a safer world allowing us to reduce our military commitment to the Middle East, then it could be a winner.
From Trump’s statements who knows what he really is after? I’m not a fan of making Gaza a US territory, but I’m not adverse to spending some of our previously earmarked foreign aid money to this project… if done right.
Will Trump give some overall guidance and let it work? Dunno.

The White House was crystal clear about speaking to ALL the greater ME countries about funding.
Specifically mentioned were the Saudi's, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt and Bahrain. I'd guess UAE is probably in the mix as well.
