“The tariffs are working and the money’s pouring in!”
Could someone clarify that please? (Yes, Jeffeosso, that’s a quote, I heard Trumps speak those words on TV today.)

Whose money?

Pouring in from where?

Justin Trudeau is no longer the PM.

Trump’s Canada policy derailed the conservative option’s chance. In response to Trump, Canada elected another liberal PM.

Again, JTex shows us one cannot be too stupid.

And no they are not. The economic Iron Curtain is descending in response.

Just like with the McKinley Tariff (passed by legislation), and the tariffs implemented at the onset of the Great Depression. Both failed. Again, we hid that information from in books.

I’ve asked two questions, based on a direct quote, and you gave no answers.

Instead you spouted your usual juvenile MAGAt snot, because you have no answers - just blind obedience to your criminal messiah. What an immature, mindless cultist you are. Roll Eyes

The fact that you don’t even know the Trudeau is no longer the Prime Minister of Canada means that you are ignorant as well. Didn't Faux ‘News’ send you the memo?

Since all this money is coming in from tariffs, does that mean I don't have to file an income tax return?

Trump said you’d have so much money you wouldn't know what to do with it, so you should be off the hook. So much winning, you’ll get tired of winning!

Ask JTEX, he’ll tell you. Roll Eyes

I just want real income based tax breaks. I am going to pay a lot this year.

People complain taxing stocks result in getting taxed twice. Well, both the state and feds tax me twice on every dollar.

I would be ecstatic if either taxed me once per dollar. Self employed income gets hammered, and I made a lot.

I did represent myself in an audit last year, and won.

Taxes and artificial consumer goods prices being inflated is a head scatter of economic policies this GOP has not addressed.

More to the point, does that mean that we will have a balanced budget, no debt increases?

10y USD bond moved from 4% to 4.5% this morning. Good luck paying off your national debt.

Why doesn't Congress pass a law that says that an American company can't buy foreign made goods IF an American made equivalent is available? That would solve a lot of this trade issue stuff, no?

The same law should state that an American company can't sell goods to a foreign entity if those goods are needed here. During COVID 3M was selling masks to China when they were badly needed here. Diesel fuel was high yet we were exporting the stuff.

trump invoked the Wartime Production Act, but how many ventilators did GM make?

My post was intended to be sarcasm. Too many people would be screaming about interference in their "right" to do business.

Who in their right mind would set up to produce parts for American car manufacturers with no assurance that they'd have buyers for their products as it might still be cheaper to buy imported parts with the tariff/s added. I think trump's dream/fantasy of having American made vehicles with 100% American made parts is just that unless there is some sort of protectionism involved. The tariffs might be intended to do just that.

I am waiting for Directive 10-289, and wondering whether Canada will close its southern border.

IMO that post is rich, and I mean that in a positive and respectful way.

Another thing from my past that I haven't disclosed is that for several years I represented people and businesses, and lawyers, gypsies, and con artists, etc., under audit before the IRS. I was qualified and worked for CPA firms at the time. The task was my specialty. It was an interesting and stressful time because I was expected to "win". Usually, I had to give up something. But there were cases where I did "win" sometimes righteously and sometimes because of the agent's incompetence.

My best wins were representing a used car dealer and a family of real gypsies. Long story.

By "win" I mean no change in the return as filed, or in cases of real jeopardy, minimal damage. At the time the IRS didn't select the return for audit without good reason of something suspicious. I played it like a game. My stake in it was my reputation with the client and my boss.

The reason I got out of it was because of the fraud and tax evasion schemes that became popular with wealthy clients. It was transparent and difficult or impossible to defend, mostly because only experienced and competent agents were assigned such cases. I kept getting assigned more such impossible cases and having to work with downtown Atlanta high ego, high dollar, lawyers who stole all the thunder.

A gun runner for Olie North case cinched it for me, in which case failure was not an option. They expected too much. I was in over my head and will. https://www.mediamatters.org/n...dissident-journalist

It became like Pam Bondi defending Trump. Unconscionable to me, and the under the bus thing was lurking.

So, I moved to Alaska in 1984 and started over with reciprocity credentials I had earned and eventually entered municipal admin field, a whole nuther can-o-worms. Such employment was like musical chairs. But they were mobile, and the employer paid for coming and going, per contract, and they all contributed to the AK state retirement plan.

Some people apparently assume that the career of a liberal number cruncher accountant is easy and pacifist. Not so. Politics in all forms, some more than others, are intrinsic, insidious and rampant in all life's paths.
