What are your thoughts on the masks?
No, not the Covid masks - the masks being worn by these ‘law enforcement’ groups, if in fact that’s what they are.

How can you tell a real LEO from a belligerent Proud Boy or an Oath Keeper who gets off on bullying people?

Don’t the have the same obligation to identify themselves as the citizens they confront? Why were masks mocked and scorned when they were worn to prevent infection - but now they’re taken for granted when they’re worn to conceal the identity of Government agants?

Masked law enforcement officers, humvees and armed troops patrolling the streets, the image is more of a totalitarian state than that of a free country. I feel pretty confident that despite what the MAGAts will say to defend Trump, that is not the image they have of their America either.

I dimly remember Opus1's humor about wearing a mask into the bank and not causing a scene...

Uncle Sam. Miami Vice. When it comes to recruiting new Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, the Trump administration is getting creative.

A social-media campaign launched late last month touted immigration enforcement as an opportunity for father-son bonding and to “deport illegals with your absolute boys,” a slang term for close friends. The Department of Homeland Security has invoked world-war-era imagery and touted 1990s Superman actor Dean Cain in an all-out blitz to persuade Americans they should join ICE’s ranks.

The federal government also offered hefty incentives: up to $50,000 in signing bonuses and up to $60,000 in student loan forgiveness. No undergraduate degree is required. DHS also lifted the age cap for law-enforcement roles, opening a deportation officer position specifically for people over 40, and tried to woo back retired law-enforcement officials with a “return to mission” campaign.

“America has been invaded by criminals and predators,” the agency says on its recruiting website. “We need YOU to get them out.”

President Trump’s massive tax and spending bill allocated more than $150 billion for immigration enforcement, kicking off a rapid effort to scale operations and fulfill his goal of carrying out the largest deportation effort in U.S. history.

ICE deported 144,000 people through the end of June, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of government data released by the Deportation Data Project. That is slightly more than the 136,854 people deported during the same time last year under the Biden administration, ICE data showed.

Pretty soon masks won't defeat facial recognition.

There need to be Federal laws (with teeth) against Swatting and Doxxing to protect EVERYONE involved.

The Swattings are especially concerning.

As long as agents families are being threatened, and they have been. I'm fine with it.
I watch closely when they show raids. I see ID on vests, tabs on collars and armbands,
Could there be some with ID covered? Maybe. But I spot them when given camera angles to see them.

Yeah. After all, Isis fighters wear masks, why should we not afford the same opportunity to our law enforcement people?
In truth, it probably doesn't mean a lot. In the early sixties, cops beating on people in Alabama didn't wear masks, but they hit just as hard. I don't believe it is a good look though. Bill.

Government employees should NEVER wear masks.

And those idiots who publish addresses and phone numbers of these should be banned from social media and imprisoned.

If the social media refuse to ban them, arrest the head of that media.

In fact, you might start with Zuckerberg.

Yesterday he was asking Trump what they should publish to please him! clap

I like it much better than vagrant infested crime riddled cities. I have no problem with running into NG on the streets in cities.

As for ICE…all you would have to see is the before and after pics of my south Texas property. Within a couple of months of Trump it is safe and usable again with virtually zero human traffic. MAGA!

Rifle bullets always suited me better. But some fence is needed and effective.

Please elaborate on the wildlife mitigation that takes place on the border. I am interested in your thoughts as I have roamed a lot of it for a lifetime.

. . . maybe we should exterminate those pesky vagrants too . . . or ship them to Gaza and let Israel do it for us. Gonna be more of those vagrants with the Redneck Rescission that Trump's economic policies is generating.

The economy is strong…especially in north Texas.

Vagrants should definitely be removed from cities. I prefer Bill Walton’s plan.

I still distrust the militarization of civilian law enforcement. I don't care to be called a civilian by someone not a Marine. Law enforcement should be local, on the street, out in public and available. I don't like the idea of masks, tactical gear etc,.... Law enforcement should be approachable and trusted. I also believe civilian law enforcement should be supported and respected, valued. These recent years and events have left civilian law enforcement no doubt they chose the wrong line of work. "man up" they say - while denying the the gangs and cartels FREQUENTLY perform horrific killings of enemies, civilians, and their families --

Scott,
interesting factoid - the LAPD was the first "swat" team, which was the first step in militarization of policing in the US -

Frankly, i grew up "in mayberry", and i wish that crime AND police were the same as back then -- but if wishes were horses, then dreamers would ride . I WISH that police didn't have to wear 3a armor to come home -- and I wish i win the lotto, neither are reality

Doesn't have to be the way it is today.

totally agree, except the cartels and gangs horrifically murder "rivels" .. el greso -- where that handcuff the "villain" put them in a stack of tires, pour diesel over it and light it on fire -- or hang the "villain" from the international bridge, with all their family - "shouldn't" and reality are often in conflict

let's not forget the cartel fav - stealing children of the "villain" and putting them in sexual slavery

See my last paragraph.

I believe "the authorities " response should be appropriate. Use municipal police where appropriate, National Guard or State Police where appropriate, The Marines where appropriate. I would no more feel comfortable setting municipal police against Cartels than I would using Sesl Team 6 as meter maids.
