Is it time…
…to remove the U.S. from the ‘Five Eyes’?

The current administration has clearly demonstrated its fealty to Russia instead of its historical allies. In view of that, I feel that the Americans can no longer be trusted with western intel.

I think it’s time for the other four members to exclude them. France has shown itself to be more trustworthy, and an excellent source of intel gathering - perhaps they should replace the U.S. in this extremely important group.

What do you Aussies and Kiwis and Brits think about this?

It's a shit sandwich! I don't see that happening and too early yet to make a call like that. But I do see a potential level of distrust forming which might well see individual members choose not to disclose certain info. And it plays into the hands of our socialists, who have been pushing for us too leave for some time.

Chinas latest stunts though will be and have already proven to be a bigger impactor.

Yet nary a word about Biden AND Obama sharing intelligence with Iran in regards to Israeli attacks. "Consistency is the hobgoblin of the liberal mind".

You fail to grasp the severity of Trump betraying our allies.

If I were one of our allies (previous allies, I mean) I would presume that anything shared with Trump will be passed on to Putin. No way I'd give the US a shred of information.

No competent intelligence official will share sensitive information, particularly sources and methods, with Donald Trump or Tulsi Gabbard.

Knowing where information comes from or how it was obtained is often critical to assessing its credibility, but compromising that info gets sources killed and access closed.

Trump and Gabbard are obviously more loyal to Putin than they are any of our traditional allies, and nobody sees it plainer than those allies.

If we're going to stupidly blunder through the world following the moron MAGAts elected we might as well be blind while we're at it.

The public sector in nordic countries have already started to raise questions about the use of us-based cloud services such as azure, o365, aws etc.

Because no longer trustworthy.

Maybe, I am not longer active with a GDPR company, but gdpr keeps that data in the EU

So, my position would be, nah, no more than usual

That's "privacy by policy", which requires trust. Data halls run from the us by us-based companies. Physical storage/processing makes no difference if there is no trust the us will honor past treaties - which the us has made clear they won't.

Yeah,
i said I wasn't CURRENTLY working for a subject to GDPR company, I didn't say I was either inexperienced or unaware of GDPR --

your generalization is what a citizen, non-practitioner might say to summarize, but it's incorrect

literally physical storage and processing is the core of the deal, alongside privacy ..

but, hey, tell ya what, let me know when the EU, other than perhaps (at one time) Atos, comes up with a global reach cloud company (non-EU companies don't count) that is critical to running global businesses...

heck, just LMK when they come up with a fully functional excel replacement
