I thought the US foray into Iraq was a hare-brained adventure at the time, but now I can't say no good has come from it. At least I don't hear news from that country anymore, so I assume they're no longer threatening their neighbors or brewing terrorists to attack us.

We went in, smashed the bad guy, helped the country get back on its feet, then left. We could have made the country a vassal of the US--who would have stopped us?--but we didn't.

If you're going to call Afghanistan a US failure, shouldn't you concede that Iraq was a US success?

Iraq was years ahead when Saddam was in charge than now.

Same for Libya.

But you lot cannot have any people live in peace!

And by the looks of it, you are getting the same at home!

What starts in California seeps into the rest of the country.

Just like a bad smell! clap

I haven’t met one who did not wish for those days.

Same for Libya!

That’s because the ones you meet are/were upper class who benefitted from the dictatorship. The average man on the street lived in constant fear of the mad sons with their secret police. And they didn’t benefit from all the money wasted on a dozen plus palaces scattered around the countryside. And of course Kadafi was so benevolent that when he was captured by his on citizens that they literally tore him to pieces. beer

Saddam was a thug and a murderer. Iraq is better off without him and it's very hard to understand why you would disagree.

Same as Qadaffi. Tyrant, thug and a murderer. Supporter of terrorists.

Saddam was living in peace when he gassed the Kurds?

He was living in peace, I suppose, when he invaded Kuwait.

Saddam's sons were living in peace when they raped and murdered young girls, for the fun of it.

You have a strange definition of "peace" there in the UAE.

You need to understand that Saeed is sure that the US is the great satan and that ME dictators are the greatest thing since sliced bread. They’ve never gassed their own people, barrel bombed them, rounded them up and executed them en masse. Al Asaad,Khomeini and his successors, Qaddafi, Saddam and his psycho sons, Al Baghdadi can do no wrong. Simple really.

How many wars was America fighting during their time?

You are the most belligerent country on the face of this earth.

How many military bases you have in, in how many foreign countries?

Your selfish stupidity has made other countries, especially in Africa and South America, embrace that other sick country, China.

Of course, you are such a bunch of cowards you wouldn't dare challenge them.

You are too impressed with your own self importance, that you pay the bloody Chinks to weaponize viruses.

And look where it has gotten us.

Yes, we have been involved in a lot of little wars.

However, how many of these did we actually start?
Maybe Panama and Grenada. Taunt the bull, get the horn.

The military bases as near as I can understand were all things that the other country involved wanted... at least at the time. We do tend to give them back if asked in a peaceful way (Philippines and a lot of the Pacific.)

As to selfish stupidity, I presume you mean by giving foreign aid and not (a la PRC) make sure we own the country? That we were unwilling to acknowledge that Mugabe was a good legitimate popular ruler, for example? Yeah, our longstanding willingness to behave in what we presumed was a moral fashion, now called "woke" has hurt us.

As to the Chicoms, you seem to miss that we have to spend as much as they do, and then be as absolutist about our having brought the country... China might have an issue if say, Zimbabwe decides that they are nationalizing the Chinese assets (they have done that to the west, you know) and if we start playing like we are with Ukraine, the Chicoms are going to flop pretty fast.

As to paying the Chicoms to do our research for us, yeah, that's damn dumb. Hope Fauci enjoys his retirement as he's going to be a reviled man in the future at some point.
