Mike MitchellPort of Seattle sitting empty....
More winning.
Pure inexplicable idiocy by trump. We're all going to start feeling the pain soon if he doesn't smarten up and back off this stupid-ass plan.

crbutlerInteresting.
Given lead times and how long it takes for something to be sent via ship, this stuff started BEFORE Trump started trying to put these policies in place.
If the port of Seattle is empty, it was more caused by an expectation than any actual action.
What seems to be said here is that the expectation of Trump caused consumer confidence to drop 3-4 months ago… which is not what was reported at the time.

It's very hard to believe that anybody would even try to argue to the contrary. But, I never cease to be amazed by the cult members.

LHeym500It can’t be.
First we were told by the Texas contingent there would be no tariffs. Then we were told prices would not be affected.

I'm sure they'll be here shortly to explain all of it to us.

Gee, tell me that you have not scheduled many international shipments of imported goods without telling me Jeffe.
Anybody who has ever been involved in importing knows one thing is for certain, timelines are nothing more than a guess at the very best. The number of hoops to jump through between the governments on both sides, shippers, brokers etc makes setting a definitive timeline impossible. My thought is that the importers got the tariff news on "liberation day" and canceled the shipments out of an abundance of caution.
I'm sure you know better though Jeffe, you always do....

jeffeossonope. without a doubt, you have packaged, shipped, and received more direct international shipments that I expect I ever will -
however, per MO, you've gone off on something I didn't say -- i merely reported that CNN and SNOPES didn't agree with the OP --
that's it --

Mike MitchellGood. I'm glad I was wrong.
Think I'll still be wrong next week?

jeffeossoMike,
I expect you won't be - these tariffs are frickin stupid
