Well, bring 17 the S. Ct., has ruled a minor cannot be sentenced to death. I think the current S. Ct., precedent mandates juveniles cannot be sentenced to life without parole.

This is based on the 8th Amendment.

He can be “tried as an adult.” The restrictions on penalties above are still there.

Federal S. CT., precedent controls even Texas.

If you were as informed and intelligent as you think concerning civics, you would understand my first post concerned Federal application of the 8th Amendment by the federal S. CT. The matter has nothing to do w KY or Texas distinctions what ever they may be.

The issue has nothing to do with how KY might play it. All stats have to apply the 8th Amendment to the bare minimum incorporated upon them by the S. Ct.

The GoFundMe is for real. Pretty sure that the allegations regarding the house and caddy are bullshit.

Bottom line is that this kid is probably going to prison for a long time. I'll predict we're going to see a Motion to Transfer Venue by the kid's lawyers if he doesn't plead out. They're going to prefer a jury pool in Dallas or Houston.

I didn't say there was no claim of self-defense. I'm aware of what the kid said to the cops. It was widely reported.

I'm reading they already owned the Escalade. The house is a rental so probably not new.

I'm not sure what explains folks' willingness to send large sums of money to a kid who admitted murder. It is, of course, about race. If it was another black kid who got stabbed, I doubt the story would have even made our local papers. If so, it would have been in the metro section on page 5.

I'd guess that there is going to be a jury trial in this case depending on what sort of a plea deal gets offered....and I'm guessing the DA isn't going to be willing to offer anything the kid is going to take.

Attorney's fees are going to eat up that money.
