If one wants to come to the country LEGALLY, he has to jump through hoops to get permission.

He is only coming temporarily, and then going home.

No stress on your financial system.

But those crossing the border ILLEGALLY are allowed in.

The common usage in American English involves an armed force.

An incursion or an intrusion would be a better choice of words but it is not nearly as inflammatory, hence the use of "invasion" by right wing media.

It could not be more clear. We need a secure border and sensible immigration reform. We are not being invaded, though illegal immigration is far higher than it should be.

You know, common sense solutions that require compromise from both sides of the political spectrum. There has been plenty of opportunity to change the status quo but neither party has the political will to do so.

We need immigrants, they should come here legally, we have a broken system that encourages them to break the law. Finding a solution to the problem will require a realistic view of the causes and the possible solutions as well as a fair bit of compromise from both sides.

I am in no way defending an open border.

That is the southern border to a T. You can deny it all you want, but it is an invasion.
There is a great deal that could be done. Neither side will budge from an all or nothing attitude though.
The money sent to these countries should come to a halt, and be used to take care of the illegals here. Why support them both ways.
