Arrangement date set for Sept 6 is the short of it. And apparently, it's all day to cover all 19 defendants. But they cover a lot more - too much to summarize.

Georgia judge orders Trump-implicating special grand jury report publicly released
Story by Sarah K. Burris •
3h

Judge Robert McBurney ruled that the report that was produced by a special grand jury that led to the eventual indictment of former President Donald Trump must be released to the public. He had previously blocked the release.

In the ruling, McBurney said that it would be released on Sept. 9.

"After considering the well-reasoned positions of both the District Attorney's Office and the media intervenors, the undersigned, in an Order dated 13 Feb. 2023, concluded that much of the final report should not be disclosed until such date as the District Attorney completed her investigation," the ruling explained.

"Much has changed since that February Order was entered," he continued. "As anyone with an internet connection now knows, the District Attorney has indicted nineteen individuals for their alleged participation in a 'racketeering enterprise' purportedly designed to interfere with the lawful administration of the 2020 general election in Georgia. This exceedingly public development eliminates the due process concerns that animated the February Order — at least for any of the nineteen indictees who might have been named in the special purpose grand jury's final report. Consequently, the undersigned now intends to release the remaining portions of that report, just as the special purpose grand jury requested and as the Code of Georgia requires."

Gov. Brian Kemp rejects calls to discipline or remove Fulton County DA Fani Willis after Trump indictment
Story by Rachel Looker and Phillip M. Bailey, USA TODAY •
20h

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is rejecting calls to discipline or remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from her position following the fourth indictment of former President Donald Trump.

Willis, a Democrat and the first Black woman to serve in the position, has become a lightning rod for attacks by supporters of Trump, who was indicted by grand jury along with 18 others in a case Willis brought alleging a conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

“As long as I’m governor, we are going to follow the law and the Constitution regardless of who it helps politically," Kemp said during a press conference Thursday.

The governor said calling a special session of the Georgia legislature to remove Willis from her position, which some Trump-aligned legislators have demanded, is not feasible and "may ultimately prove to be unconstitutional."

"Up to this point, I have not seen any evidence that DA Willis' actions or lack thereof warrant action by the prosecuting attorney oversight commission," he said. "But that will ultimately be a decision the commission will make."

Kemp's comments come after a call from a Georgia faith leader representing more than 530 churches for the governor to publicly oppose Republican efforts to remove or discipline of Willis.

Bishop Reginald T. Jackson, head of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Georgia, sent a letter to Kemp last week that comes at a time when Republican governors are cracking down on liberal-leaning prosecutors.

Trump's Trial May Have to Move, Judge Announces
Story by Katherine Fung • Newsweek
17h

Former President Donald Trump's criminal trial in Georgia may have to move to a larger courtroom to accommodate more attendees, the judge presiding over the case said on Thursday.

During a hearing addressing whether or not the trial would be televised to the public, Judge Scott McAfee said that if the number of attendees for the proceedings grows, a larger courtroom may be requisitioned.

The judge also announced that all the proceedings involving Trump and his 18 co-defendants would be broadcast on the Fulton County Court YouTube channel, following the precedent set by Fulton Judge Robert McBurney.

"In line with the spirit of transparency here," McAfee said on Thursday. "We have followed Judge McBurney's model, and we have been livestreaming all of our major proceedings on a Fulton County-provided YouTube channel. And our plan was to do that with this case as well. So there's going to be a YouTube feed the entire time."

The question of whether or not the criminal trial brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis would be televised has been hanging over the sweeping racketeering case. Media experts have predicted that a televised Trump trial could rival Super Bowl viewership and speculated about whether or not having the proceedings broadcasted would work in or against Trump's favor.

James Haggerty, a communications consultant specializing in high-profile litigation, previously told Newsweek that Trump is a "master of the medium.

"Televised court cases are the ultimate reality TV—and Donald Trump, above else, is a reality TV star," Haggerty said earlier this month.

But others have said broadcasting the proceedings will put a face to the charge, much like his mug shot from last week did. While federal criminal trials are closed, Georgia has a longstanding history of allowing cameras in the courtroom to promote access to the judicial process.

McAfee said to make the trial available to the media, the best way would be to stream it and allow some outlets into the room with their own cameras. He also said he'd be open to an overflow room for journalists, should the members of press exceed the room's capacity.

Georgia's courtroom transparency is one of the key reasons the defendants named in the RICO indictment want to try to move their cases to federal court. On the contrary, when former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows made his case to transfer his case to the U.S. District Court on Monday, journalists were barred from bringing even their cell phones into the federal building where the hearing was held.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump pleaded not guilty to the 13 charges handed to him by a Fulton grand jury while waiving the right to an arraignment, meaning he won't return to Atlanta next Wednesday.

He also asked a judge to delay his trial until after the October 23 start date that has already been set for one of his co-defendants, asking to be severed from former Trump lawyer Kenneth Chesebro, who is demanding a speedy trial.

Last week, Trump surrendered to Fulton County officials and had his mugshot taken before being released on a $200,000 bond.

CNN is reporting that the Federal Grand Jury in D.C. is meeting after taking a little 4-week break.

Lots of speculation but my money is on them indicting some or all of the "unindicted co-conspirators" from the Trump indictment, folks like Giuliani and Eastman. Sure looks like Bernard Kerik rolled on Rudy hard.

My opinion is that Trump will get away with it all. And the result will be that he's used it all to raise money and support, and he will be the GOP nominee. That's unless he's barred from office or the ballots. He could be our next POTUS.

Symone Sanders-Townsend and Michael Steele join to discuss.

I've seen several articles recently that to me were obviously seeding a potential jury pool, by repeating the same old lies and deflections, perhaps new twists and spin, which are now presented as facts. They certainly carry the weight of facts to true believers. And that's aside from what Fox and Newsmax do.

Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has had his request to move his trial to a federal court rejected by the judge presiding over his case.

Meadows, along with former president Donald Trump and 17 others, is charged in relation to efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. All have pleaded not guilty.

An attempt to move their cases out of Georgia state court was hinted by Trump and other co-defendants in Fulton County. The latest ruling on Meadows’ case, however, suggests any similar attempts are likely to fail.

I don't know for sure if this is true, but here's the "news" report.

Note: I post this as an example of inflammatory press, divisive, and tit for tat BS. This is click bait.

If 61 people were charged, with good evidence and probable cause, then good, IMO.

To assume they are leftists or democrats goes beyond the actual info. They may be leftists, democrats, and may be extremists. So what? If they committed crimes that's all that is relevant.

But the article seems to be of the tone way beyond "news" and into revenge, while saying that the other case, Trump and 18 co-defendants is BS.

People buy into this kind of chit.
