Curious if anyone here will admit that they plan to vote for Trump in the Republican primary? It is sort of amazing. He appears to poll well yet finding someone that says they plan to support him in the primary is rarer than hen’s teeth. Let’s hear for those with the courage to openly support their convictions. Stand tall and proud.

I do not know who I may vote for in our GOP Primary. I know I will not vote for President Trump or Gov. DeSantis.

It is very odd, isn't it?

If I recall correctly, even Lane says he won't vote for trump in the primary, only the general. But, I don't recall anybody else being on record as supporting trump. I suspect what we've got is folks that will be voting against Biden, not for trump. Or, at least, that is what they will claim as a justification.

Got to say something, I guess. I'd be ashamed to admit it too.

Probably doesn't bode well for republican turnout in the general election.

Given how some of us get treated by you guys and we say no way to Trump, I can only imagine the kind of abuse that someone who would admit it gets.

My dad has said he supports Trump... although he is wavering. His justification is "look at the other side."

Versus what we get when we say we support Biden?

Please. The only difference is, we're right and you're wrong. Big Grin

. . . in some cases I suspect that is the case because some of us find such declarations completely disingenuous viewed against repeated rationalizations of Trump's behavior, constant deflection in addressing Trump's failings, and the like. I suspect there are plenty of both closet Trump supporters here as well as Trump supporters that enjoy hiding behind public pronouncements to the contrary. I am just curious why that is the case. Where is the courage of their convictions?

I'm very glad that you are rich enough to not care, but some of us, (Retired, 78 years old, veteran, fixed income) may have to be doing our grocery shopping in the pet food isle. I didn't work 52 years in construction to end up like this!

And you seriously think Trump will care and change the cost of living and inflation? You are naive. Trump cares only about Trump, like the good narcissist that he is. Oh, and he cares about avoiding jail…

I really think, looking from the outside, that much of this is because effectively the US is stuck in a two party system.
If I put myself in the position of having a trump like person to vote for, or realistically voting only for the single opposition that will make my life incredibly difficult over the next term with no guarantee it wont end up being two terms etc, then Id have a pill to swallow whichever choice I made. One would be bitter, the other would be bitter and punative.

. . . we’re talking about the primary, lots of choices in the primary. One of three things is going on here. One, the Trumpists are too embarrassed to speak up and admit they support the buffoon. Two, the Trumpists are cowardly hiding behind ostensible support for other candidates. Three, all the polls showing Trump to be leading in the primary are completely off base. Where is Team MAGA?

Right now the U.S. is producing more oil than it ever did under trump yet gasoline is higher. The reason is that OPEC and other who are reducing output are causing a shortage and allowing WORLD prices to rise. Believe it or not U.S. producers base the price of their refined products on the world price for crude and not domestic production costs. Also it's a fact that refineries are less efficient in high temperature areas reducing output. I don't know how you think that trump is going to change that. Should he somehow get re-elected he'll be more bent on revenge and fucking up the government than helping you. I'd guess that about a year into his second term he'd deserve to be impeached for dereliction of duty.

I admit I have not always voted in the primary.
Sometimes it seems a waste of time to vote in the general election period, when I vote 3rd party. But I do want my displeasure with what we are offered on record.

The reason is that the oil companies are fucking us, just like they always have. Because they are the oil companies.

Production is up, too much oil, we lose money because price is down due too much availability.

versus

Production is down, not enough oil, we lose money so we have to charge you a shit-load more.

The economy has been great to me the last few years, the strongest since the 90's. Inflation is high certainly(same as all western countries) but so is demand.

While I do not support all of the Democrats green policies, I was outraged at Trump's environmental policies. I support mining and drilling for oil, in places that it is safe and balanced with other needs such as recreation, wildlife habitat etc.

If a moderate Republican gets the nomination, I will delighted to vote for him. No to Trump and his mini-me's.

Let's hope the GOP nominates a reasonable alternative to Biden, not likely though. I'm thinking a far right culture warrior will get the nod. After the shellacking the GOP just took on issues 1 in Ohio they are doubling down. It does not look like any move towards the center will happen in the near term.

Various of my mother in laws friends say they will be voting trump.

They simply refuse to believe he tells lies, grabs women by the pussy, has a civil conviction for sexual abuse, had an affair with a porn star, paid hush money for said affair, those that worked with him ( who were the “best” people at the time) think he is a fucking moron, doesn’t pay his campaign trail bills, stole classified documents and bragged about it …

Whatever possible evidence which shows he is compleatly lacking a moral or ethical cell in his body … is just locker room talk, exaggeration, fake news, deep states fault, a conspiracy against him. They really are utterly and willingly blind to any hint of any wrongdoing by trump.

The sad thing is the left in its way, tho not to the same magnitude, does the same … and so throwing stones/ glass houses etc.

Biden shouldn’t be standing again, the poor guy should be put out to pasture. Get someone from the middle ground ffs.

Yes, he was, and prior to him Boris was mayor. I hate London and only go there if I have to for work.

I in some ways admire Khan in that he is a “labour” mayor but he will stick 2 fingers up to the Labour Party and do what he thinks is best for London (whether or not you agree). If he pisses off enough folks he won’t get voted in again.

On the other side of the coin you have Middle Eastern countries who ban a film because it doesn’t match the “moral values” of the state, yet that state has migrant labour living in virtual slavery and its citizens are very prominent in drinking, gambling and whoring when they are away from the thought police at home.

I’d rather be able to make my own choices thanks.

The true Trumpeteers are very vocal and adamant that they will support their cult leader. Many Republicans, and any with the ability to think critically, would prefer to support anyone else, but they have no viable option around whom they can rally. This means opposition to Trump will be shouted down and fragmented. If anyone other than Trump is nominated, the Trumpeteers will pitch a fit, then pout and stay home on election day. If Trump is nominated, staunch Republicans will hold their noses and vote for him anyway. Democrats will also vote for the commie alternative, regardless of the name.
Neither Joe Biden nor Donald Trump are suitable as presidential candidates, but that may well be the choice offered to voters. The debates will be great entertainment! Regards, Bill.

Frankly, the general person in the streets would rather live here right now than in your convoluted society.
