Track surfaces are one of the biggest factors in orthopedic injuries in racehorses. I have never said Churchill Downs was immune to having a surface issue as it has recently been redone. Albeit, that has been scrutinized by experts. From your article: “Following a thorough internal review and concurrent investigations conducted by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (‘KHRC’) and Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (‘HISA’), no single factor has been identified as a potential cause and no discernible pattern has been detected to link the fatalities.” In your recent post history Joshua, you have unjustly attacked the integrity of the industry and specifically one individual who is one of the great horsemen of times. I just refuted your claims that the industry and this individual were sinister. In this specific cluster, no clear cut factor is surfacing. While Churchill might be one of the most famous, it represents a small percentage of overall race meets which occur in the USA. It also appears from your article that Churchill management believes it could be a surface problem as they are finishing the spring meet at a nearby facility. While this cluster is extremely sad and unfortunate…nothing in it is suggesting of your previous hit-posts, claiming illicit behavior was rampant in the equine racing community, are even remotely true. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J.
