Former House Speaker Qevin McCarthy purported to authorize three separate Committees of the House to conduct "Inquiries" into the possible impeachment of President Joe Biden. This was entirely a sham.

Under existing House Rules, Federal Law and DOJ policy a House Committee may issue subpoenas ONLY with a "legislative purpose", ie. to gather information to inform the potential framing of legislation. Such subpoenas have little actual effect beyond informing the recipient that a given Committee would like to speak with them; a glorified invitation to appear.

For an actual Impeachment Inquiry that can issue potentially enforceable investigative subpoenas requires, under the Rules, a vote of the full House to authorize a Committee to issue them.

McCarthy didn't have the votes to do this so he initiated the fake "inquiries", the first of which fell flat when witness after witness was forced to admit that there was no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden.

With the ouster of McCarthy from the Speaker's chair those "inquiries" have now lost any nebulous authority they may have pretended to.

Unlike trump's legal issues, this was what a REAL witch hunt is like.

This is what taxpayers around the world pay politicians to do, whether we like it or not.

We pay, and they play politics for their own personal and ‘inner circle’ gain. Actually working for the benefit and advancement of the nation is far from their first consideration.

Historically, they push their luck until there’s a violent revolution.
