Sadly, not everyone remembers or understands the words and competing interests use them as a tool to bludgeon one another.

Those words of Lincoln were perhaps the greatest ever spoken by a politician. I'm sure no one wrote that for him. He did it himself.

Sadly, he was assassinated before he could fulfill the promise, and his successor started the backslide from the Party of Lincoln to where it is today.

Lincoln knew what had to be done for the sake of the Nation. Johnson was obliged to a creed which can be traced to today.
