I'm sure everyone has seen the camera footage. Very strange. I do not think his weapon was jammed. So was the firearm used shooting subsonic ammo? Would having a suppressor merit that or were there other reasons? It looks like the firearm wasn't cycling properly (low pressures?) but if this is the case, the shooter was prepared for this and well practiced. Sad execution anyway. The victim was a family man. ~Ann

There has to be a motive, probably his job position. Somebody got screwed by the company ? When the horse has been eliminated, human life may be extended an average of five or more years. James R. Doolitle I think they've been misunderstood. Timothy Tredwell

Back in the old days, the military used S&W 39's. They had a suppressor and a slide lock to keep it as quiet as possible. Hard on the gun though. Most likely not enough pressure to cycle in this case, whether on purpose or not, who knows.

That was what I was wondering. I have no experience with such modifications. Never saw anything like this in my working days. I have done some more reading and there are a plethora of possibilities as to why the hit was done. One very plausible one was something about testimony to come (on an unknown to me) court case(s). So either he was deliberately silenced for such a situation or there was some disgruntled person with a health care issue, which seems unlikely, as that is more of a crime of passion and these types are not professionals, they just come out guns blazing. We shall see. ~Ann

The original point of them was to not even have the noise from a slide racking, Ann. So an odd thing for someone to use in public, then rack the slide anyway. That is why I'm a skeptic that it was a slide lock, done on purpose. It used to be called by some units, a Hush Puppy. As they used them for barking dogs, along with sentry removal.

Looks like using subsonic ammo in a pistol with a strong mainspring the ammo can't cycle, probably a fairly new gun. A pro would have gotten two steps closer and had a weaker spring so his follow-up shots were quicker. "If you’re innocent why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”- Donald Trump

45 acp ammo mostly is sub-sonic, 850 - 900 fps. 9mm is faster, 1100 - 1200 fps. Sub-sonic 9mm is listed at 975 fps for one sample, but the weight is 147 grains. https://www.midwayusa.com/prod...021880612?pid=905864 I haven't seen reporting on the ammo used. I haven't tested it, but I suspect a 9mm pistol would cycle std and sub-sonic ammo okay, but the added weight of the suppressor would have some effect. Those factors and a jam or failure to cycle does indicate the shooter was not a pro, and had not tested the pistol/suppressor/ammo combo. Here's a picture of a loaded cartridge on the pavement: https://youtu.be/gAUkKi4Coss?si=RtlC_PhjMvQ11eK1&t=89 I can't tell if it's 45 or 9mm, but it looks like FMJ. If so, that's another clue. A professional probably wouldn't use FMJ. ************* Degenerate 1:1 1 Then Trump said, "Let Us re-make a Nation in MY Image, after My likeness, to rule over everything in the Nation, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it". My Glock 21 with a suppressor cycles subsonic ammo seamlessly. Yes as has been pointed out, 45's are subsonic. Regardless, the 45 is loud. It isn't hurt your ears loud, but sounds like a gun going off. I have a couple of semi auto 22's that are suppressed and they are Hollywood quiet. You can hear the action cycle and the bullet hit the target, that's it. With the 22lr suppressed there is no sonic crack and no bang. The centerfires suppressed sound like a quiet gun going off.

Reading between the lines in the report I saw- He wrote on the casings. Possible motive or red herring to distance the investigation. The comments on the suppressor made it sound like it was a homemade one and thus possibly caused reliability issues. The fact that NYPD is releasing so many details says that they have had a number of roadblocks and are looking for any public help they can get. I would not be surprised if this is a “revenge” killing and the perpetrator is pretty smart and is already out of the country and in a place with poor/no extradition. One example for my conservative friends would be Israel. They refuse to extradite any Jewish person. It’s not a lock this is an ANTIFA/leftist agenda person.

There was a live round on the pavement at the scene. Apparently, the perp cycled a live round out and didn't pick it up. The report is that he shot the guy in the back and in the leg. So, there's two clues that he got excited - the leg shot and the live round left at the scene. ************* Degenerate 1:1 1 Then Trump said, "Let Us re-make a Nation in MY Image, after My likeness, to rule over everything in the Nation, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it". May be it was a wake up call for bad policies?? I have seen instances where health insurers behaved like God. Untouchably, ignorant and have a could not care less attitude. They set the prices for medical treatments, forcing hospitals and medical professionals to accept lower prices. While at the same time never stop increasing their rates. I am not saying I condone the killing of this man, but they do push people to extremes.

Healthcare is a sensitive topic, you are catching people at their worst, their lowest, their most sensitive. Mom has cancer, daughter was in a car accident, brother is deathly sick and we don't know why. All the while Corporate Medicine is liable to its shareholders. Dividends count. Make a profit, quarterly reports are due. I have a kid, I understand. Save my kid, make her whole, make her happy. I don't pay for good efforts, tried hard or gave it the best shot. Not fixing my kid but turning a profit should have consequences.

Another insurer in the northeast announced they were going to limit paying for anesthesia during surgery to a set time, this CEO gets whacked, they change their minds. Government run health care is no different then health insurance coverage Government officials can deny treatments just as fast as insurance company Where there is a will, there is a way but it doesn’t include vigilantes Ultimately, health care and treatments can be complicated maze and nightmare for everyone involved including health professionals and insurance companies

I have a slightly different view on this. Insurance companies squeeze providers for the lowest price, at the same time they charge clients as much as they can get away with. Now the insured are just as guilty. I have seen Lego to the doctor for minor things I would never consider. So doctors charge the insurance companies for these minor visits, which can be added up, and the normal patient is penalized!

Too many fingers in the pie that have absolutely nothing to do with providing health care. Health care was made into a commodity to be traded when MBAs took over our economy under Reagan. Somehow we became the most prosperous Country the world had ever seen before "shareholder value" became a religious mantra, and folks who owned stocks made money, one income would feed, house and clothe a family, companies cared about quality of product and their reputations and working for one company for an entire career, with advancement as warranted, was what capitalism was. Then MBAs decided that shareholder value was the only metric that mattered and CEOs and executives who delivered it should get 500 times as much as their workers and everything has to be a commodity from the delivery room to the grave. Reports on the Net suggesting he deserved it. As his company has refused treatment to thousands many of whom died! How about the other company refusing to pay for anesthesia if the operation exceeds a certain time? One has to look at both sides of the story. You and me might not think this justifies killing, but what about those who have lost loved ones due to insurance companies?
