Investigating things while being on the road as a consultant, I'm wondering if there really is a market for jackets (meaning that I'd get to work at home...).

If you think so, in what calibers, with what profile and thickness, and what'd you be willing to pay?

Yes there is alway's going to be a market for jacket's
it's the demand that drive's it as you know.
Jacket cost's vary from Diam to Diam from wall thickness to lenght
normal cost to the public for a 0.018 jacket wall thickness
in .700 for lenght in a .458 run's around 7 to 9 cent's each
Bigger jacket's say?
1.750 for lenght and with a wall thickness of 0.065
in .508 Diam run about 14 cent's each..all from that litte strip of copper.

Now the tooling up cost to make good jacket's that people would be willing to buy
First you will need a press/stamp=about 7.500
there you will need the feeder for the copper flat'sin the roll's
2.500
then punch's custom made about 450.00 each diam
or one diamater and about 40 redraw die's
redraw die's are a cheaper way to go Richard Corbin Make a new design for redrawing there one if not the best design's around so each redraw die will run you about 250.00 each time's 40.
Copper wire in the flat roll's you can just buy in the right thickness's or buy it heave and redraw it down to size

So your looking at just getting started with
One press
One set of die's
5 diffrent redraw die's
Copper roll=150 feet 1.00 thickness 1.300 wide
Torch to reheat the copper so it does not becouse to brittle
Extra's
About 19.000
To make a 14 cent jacket
But hay be my guest Contact Richard Corbin or Dave Corbin
Or Dave Davison Or ( Butch ) hairfield .
As it is There really is only one good jacket supplyer .
The rest err should i say the other 3 make jacket's only for one of a few thing's pistol or rifle or both but the jacket's are to hard and must be reheated before use.

So if you would like to check in to it a bit more and then get started i will buy some from you as it is now i don't buy alot really i only pick up about 5000 jacket's at the most ever 3 month's but then again there are a lot of guy's and small companys that buy there jacket's instaed of making them

O and welcome to the AR Board
