There is no rationalization with peta + their ilk. I need to stop there before I get in trouble.

That piece wasn't hacked up for any sort of sportsmen or even outdoorsmen. It's simply a sob story intended to pull maximum dollars out of the pockets of the cliff dwellers in NYC and like places.

I agree with the above, but this quote sure is thought provoking. Roll this from cheek to gum:

quote:
Controlled big game hunting still goes on in Africa and many reserves are set up by governments, who use money paid by rich safari hunters to fund broader conservation efforts. Elephant numbers in Botswana, however, have declined so greatly that a ban on hunting has been legislated. That ban won't come into force until next year.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.
