I just bought

On clearance at academy for .03 cents a round.

Amazing the craze lasted that long.

Time to shoot some 22 again.

It didn't last that long. Cheap Fed. .22 has been on sale at Academy for less than 5 cents/round for well over a year.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

I never look at anything at academy that does not have a yellow clearance sticker Smiler

My favorite store along with costco.

I've said it before, but I wish I lived near your Academy. The local one in Texarkana very rarely has good sale stuff.

FWIW, I've got tens of thousands of .22 ammo and if I had seen some more at 3 cents a round, I'd have bought all they had.

Gato

It is store specific. I think they Sometimes price just for the sake of pricing. The clearance prices for each store comes from corporate.

I have bought quality 300 win mag ammo for $2.98 a box.

I have spoken to some Major gun manufactures - they do get good pricing.

Their aransas store brand fishing shirt is amazing. I pay full for it.

I buy no guns or fishing rods and reels from them. I support some local specialized retail stores even though I can buy cheaper elsewhere - I pay for service and expertise. I still somehow spend $10k-$20k at academy every year - and I don’t even have their store credit card.

The amount of ammo I own - shooting it all will not be good for me physically. I need to get rid of some of the 458 Lott. The 22lr ammo and cz452 bolt should cause carpal tunnel syndrome Wink

I might consider myself lucky, but with the stockpile I had laid in prior to the shortage and the stuff I was able to find during it, I never wanted for rimfire ammo. Sure, I didn't have 10k rounds in the basement, but I wouldn't have shot that much anyway. I'm about a 2-3k per year guy. Since the replenishment of our industry following Trump's election, people can't seem to give it away fast enough! It's a buyer's market for sure! Big Grin

That ammo scare comes up every election it seems. What really chaps my ass is the folks that went to Academy/Walmart,etc. + bought it for $20.00 a brick + went to the gun show selling for $100.00 a brick.I understand + support free enterprise but I draw the line at fxxking your fellow shooters. I fully agree with that. I flatly refused to pay inflated prices for something I know isn't worth that much. I'd have to be a real hayseed to look someone in the eye and let them screw me out of money. It's also one of the reasons I don't buy any ammo from those guys at the gun show that's clearly 20 to 30 years old and marked with today's prices. Roll Eyes

Yeah, free enterprise is Ok until it costs someone you know money. WTF is wrong with buying ammo cheap and selling it high? Is someone forcing someone to buy it. If they need it and want it, it was worth it to them.

Reminds me of gasoline. Some people, like me, have driven by dozens of stations looking for the "cheapest" price, but you have to ask yourself, what is it worth when you're walking down the road with an empty can?

Let me revise that statement. I NEVER let myself get low on gas or ammo but several years ago I was married to this woman who thought that any of my vehicles that had gas in it was fair game + would drive it dry + leave it with not enough to even make it from home to the gas station. Thought I had outsmarted her when I bought a new Ford P.U. w/ dual tanks + did'nt tell her about the change over switch. She discovered it;after that I just hid the keys. That was a LOOOONG time ago,so don't tell me how stupid I was;I've kicked myself over the years.
