I had 2 24 hr stopovers at Dubai on my recent hunt.

The immigration line in Dubai can be long. Not as bad as us but not as fast as Mumbai or HK.

On my return the immigration officer checked my passport and saw I had returned with 2 weeks. Then unprompted he took a few minutes to enter my info in his system and gave me back my passport with a sticker.


He had entered my Us passport in their electronic smart gate program.

Now I can enter and leave Dubai thru a electronic smart gate system as fast and easily as Saeed or any other uae resident.

That is good government service. Unprompted and unasked for.

Now that's how things should work. On the flip side of Governmental Intelligence (an oxymoron), when I had my FFL in the 80's I received a box of 4473 forms with a form sheet on top that stated, under the paperwork reduction act. That if I had not received these forms then I was required to file a report in triplicate to the ATF saying that I had not received these forms. I'm as serious as a heart attack. Who thinks this crap up?

How about me receiving a mail from the US tax office, after I have returned from the States by several years, demanding that I pay tax?

To stop bureaucratic bullshit, there are signs in every government department reception, informing visitors that if they are unsatisfied with the service they are getting, they have the right to immediately see the head of the department. This is displayed in several languages.

Our ruler went early one morning to some of the government departments.

Any head of a department who was not present in his office was fired on the spot.

I remember this mentioned in some US media outlets.

Some of the comments were "PLEASE COME HERE"

Nice point Saeed. All my life I have thought that Texas was the best place to live even after living all over the world, but the crap that we are being force-fed in the ways of extreme taxation + a lack of any semblance of fairness in the legal system is a one-sided sword with ONLY the county to benefit.
