Because you haven't put any good deals up for sale this year.

Mike

Legistine actu quod scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

If I can find an original .500 Jeffery/schuler I would!

Or any Daniel Fraser Mausers, but they are tough to come by!

I've paid for a Ruger No. 1 in 6.5 Creedmore. It still has to make its way from North Carolina to me, and then I have to wait the 10 days here in CA before I can have it. So even though I paid for it before Christmas, I won't have it until mid January. Does that count or do I have to buy another one?

One of my sons gave me a NIB Savage Scout in .308 cal.sans scope. Talked with my preacher last night. Seems he has a Leupold red dot EER W/ rings,+ he has a desire on my Baikal 12 O/U.Looks like a deal to me.I know that its hard for the boys to get me something at Christmas time, hell I see items here that I want but then remind myself that I already have them.I recall an instance several years ago when an uncle got a present under the family gathering.Playboy mag. at that time had an ad,"What do you give a man who has everything?,A Place to put it.'The item was a knit coverlet for the dick + balls.Well uncle mac rocket who was already very wealthy got one for christmas + when we went back to tell him supper was ready,he was passed out drunk on the bed with nothing on but that little thing.Wish we had cell phone cameras back then.

A couple of years ago I bought a few of those Martini BSA cadets that one of the members here was bringing back from Britain.Traded off a couple but kept one for my grandson.Let him shoot it + told him it would be his when he was 10.He kinda rolled his eyes + said,"Well you know I'm ALMOST 10 right now."

Maybe when I get back from the SHOT show I well have found something I want to buy.

Or if something shows up on the free market at the right price I well buy it.

Just came from Academy Sports - bought a Yildiz 20 ga SxS for quail & other upland game.

It matches my Yildiz .410 O/U.

I know, they're not expensive or high-end guns, but for the money, nice little shotguns.

I already have all the 12 ga Brownings I need, along with an SKB 20 and a Franchi 28.

Now I'm looking for an M70 in .338 and a .416 Rigby, probably a CZ.

Made it to Jan 12, but then picked up a nice S&W J frame 357 mag
with 3" barrel. Thought it would make a good carry piece at the ranch.
A bit of an upgrade from the snub nose 38 I usually tote?
