I don't know about you but I'm getting really sick of all the MAGGOT, VULTURE, LEACH lawyers cramming my TV and spamming my computers with ads so willing to help the poor people that drank bad water. The GREEDY TURDS!

Doin' what they do best. And yes, I drank the water, but have not applied for benefits.

I have a buddy who was there in 65 before he went to Nam. He is not of the lawsuit mindset + has no use for those class action lawyers. I mentioned it to him as he does not have a computer, but as I said, he has no interest in suing or lawyers. I made the mistake of clicking on it when it 1st came out + now I'm swamped with emails that I just delete unread.

Spent 2 years there 69-70 as a kid.....I'm sure I guzzled plenty. Mom is 79 and has had multiple myeloma for 11 years now with breast cancer halfway through that period. Would it have happened anyway? Who knows but MM is on the list they mention.

The commercials have halted me in my tracks because how do you know which one to choose? BTW, the ONLY way anyone will ever get paid for this is a class action suit, uncle sam ain't gonna start writing checks without one.

In general I despise lawyers but some are ok (a few anyway haha).

On a related subject, I have a buddy who is very involved in the VA. He has type 2 diabetes + uncle sugar is finally admitting that exposure to Agent Orange can cause diabetes. It was denied for the longest time, but there were too many cases.

My son was in the sandbox in the 2002 mess. He hated the taste of that chlorinated water they had, but that was all there was. You damned sure didn't want to drink anything local, even if you could. He would write me that the thing he missed the most was the taste of our well water. He has intestinal issues now + several of his buddies have died from stomach cancer. Related; who knows. I tell him to keep going to the VA + when he balks, I have to remind him that he is NOT talking charity, he already earned it!

That reminded me of an issue that happened with him right after he got home. He was still in "war zone mood". He had gone to town to get a Starbucks's coffee + on his leaving the parking lot at an incline, he rolled backward + bumper the guy behind in his sports car. Not hard, only a touch. The guy comes out screaming about his car, ad nauseam + had the effrontery to say that his car was worth more than my son's life, + then made the bad move of grabbing him by the arm, at which point, without thinking, he just throat chopped the little pencil neck turd over his little sports car + left him in the parking lot. I really love that story.

Separate from the question of ambulance chasers, I have some thoughts.

I'd guess this case took years of investigation to settle. I wonder what role the chain-of-command played. Marine leaders have two responsibilities, the first is to meet the mission. The second one is to take care of your troops' well being.

How many generals and colonels passed through that chain of command over the years? What role did they play in overseeing and managing the base infrastructure? How could these circumstances been allowed to develop?

Has anyone been held accountable?

Probably zero.

I'd bet we could easily find several generals and colonels among the list of plaintiffs.

Class actions are a bad idea. Nice experiment, but the only one's who profit are the plaintiff's lawyers. We should do away with the entire concept. And that's from a defense lawyer that also profits defending these things. The concept of a class action is that no one is injured enough to justify an individual suit. So if that's the case, grow up, take it, and move on.

When I was a kid, we had very little water.

It used to be brought in on donkey back.

4, 4 gallon cans, and each can cost a lot of money.

We used to store it in big earthenware pots so it cools.

Before long, mosquitoes breed in it.

We had a large aluminium cup with a handle to get the water out.

It was mostly brown, with sediment.

We used a piece of cloth to drink through, so the sediment and little wiggling mosquito babies don't go into our mouths! clap

To your point, I recall a picture of the lawyers that had just won the big settlement against the tobacco companies.....they were all sitting around a table smoking cigars.

As someone who benefited from a class action law suit against Monsanto/Bayer over the Roundup issue, I must take issue with your basic premise. I certainly didn’t have the money to sue Monsanto as an individual. And just taking it after going through 2 five month courses of chemo 4 years apart for Stage 4 Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma was a nonstarter. Worked out pretty damn good for me! clap
