I read in the latest issue of handyman where they show how burglars are gaining entrance to your garage/house. If you have an auto garage door opener installed there is a release mechanism right at the door which generally has a rope with a "T" handle attached. If there is a power outage or mechanical problem you would pull down on the rope which would release the door from the opener, when this occurs you just lift the door. What the burglar does is using a shim similar to a door stop they pry open the door enough to insert a wire hook, they snag the rope and the T handle permits them to pull and do the release from the outside. Their solution was to remove the T handle, install a baffle to block access to the rope. This also works in your favor in the event you get locked out....your choice NRA Life Member, ILL Rifle Assoc Life Member, Navy | ||
