EoE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...nophilic_esophagitis Sounds harmless enough. Just a food allergy condition. I have it. My son has it. We just ignored it for the most part, for a good number of years. Just eat slower and avoid a few foods. Then last Saturday his esophagus ruptured. Emergency surgery to repair it followed. He's going on Day-6 in the ICU. It can affect you at any age. Our symptoms were food impaction / difficulty swallowing. If you or someone you know has these indicators encourage them to have an endoscopy and visit an allergist. You ignore it at your peril.

Had breakfast with a small group of retired guys. Three had this issue. One had a LINX implant installed https://www.jnjmedicaldevices....ux-management-system , although this is for GERD and not EoE. Another had a ring installed that tore the esophagus removing a restriction. He then takes Omeprazole. https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/...-tablet-oral/details Neither had any dietary restrictions. I guess there are options once my son gets out of the ICU, gets home, and has fully healed.

Best wishes to your son! I was just diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus. Many ailments connected to the esophagus and eating, as you stated.
